Best Dressed at the Met Gala 2016

I love Met Gala night. Seeing all the world’s biggest celebrities arriving dressed to the nines happens only once a year, and with every year comes new surprises. It’s one of the most prestigious fashion events of the year where the celebs dress to impress in luxurious ball gowns – a real Cinderella occasion.

The Met Gala is the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institution Benefit, which sees the elite show up for a black-tie event in aid of the Costume Institute. It’s held every first Monday of May and this year’s theme was in accordance with the Met’s Manus x Machina Exhibition: Fashion in an Age of Technology. Tickets for the event are only $30,000. Only.

My favourite looks of the night

Poppy Delevigne, one of the first on the red carpet, I thought her dress quite mediocre but as everyone else began to appear, Poppy’s was actually one of the best, although like everyone else’s.. very silver.

Karolina Kurkova in Marchesa looked stunning (in silver) with the flower detail along the back of the dress and the train making it all that more elegant.

Zoe Saldana slayed with a huge train (flashback to Rihanna’s pizza train) and upped the style game at the event, putting Taylor and Selena to shame. The colour, the material, it all works even if it is a little peacock-y but beautiful all the same.

Nicole Kidman looked ethereal as ever in Alexander McQueen with a cape that resembled the night sky. Classy, elegant and poised.

Willow Smith (in Chanel) and Alexa Chung (in Thakoon) both rocked in sparkling black suits. Very chic. I like.

Emily Ratajkowski looked a vision in this sleek, simple Prabal Gurung dress. No silver, no metallic. Just class.

Bow down to Claire Danes who hands down stole the show and emersed herself in the true essence of the Met Gala. The dress was pure magic, congrats to Zac Posen who created the masterpiece.

Just to finish off I’d like to leave a reminder of who are still reigning King and Queen of the Met Gala and always will be #Goals

I completely agree about the overuse of silver metallic dresses this year! It looked so desperate trying to fit the theme and was so unoriginal.

I too loved Claire’s look by Zac Posen. The classic princess silhouette with the use of LED lights was the perfect pairing for tonight.

definitely! I didn’t understand how their stylists didn’t assume everyone would be in silver and try to change it up a bit. Everyone seemed to play it safe this year which was disappointing.
