The Best Instagram Spots in Kuala Lumpur
Below are the best Instagram spots in Kuala Lumpur and the most Instagrammable locations to light up your Instagram feed with images that shout ‘I’ve been to Kuala Lumpur!!’.
1. Petronas Twin Towers
Location: Head to KLCC Lake Symphony, 50088 Kuala Lumpur for the below photo spot!
The Petronas Twin Towers, the tallest twin towers in the world, are a symbol of modern Kuala Lumpur.
Capture the towers from the ground level or head to the Skybridge for a panoramic view of the city.
The best time for photos of the Petronas Twin Towers is during the golden hour or at night when the towers are beautifully lit up, like you can see in my photo below.

2. Jalan Alor Night Market
Location: 64, Jalan Alor, Bukit Bintang, 50200 Kuala Lumpur
Jalan Alor Night Market is a bustling street filled with vibrant food stalls and colourful lights.
Snap pictures of the mouth-watering Kuala Lumpur street food and hawker stalls, the energetic crowd, and the neon signs. The lively atmosphere makes for an exciting backdrop for your Instagram stories.
There are quite a few food markets in Kuala Lumpur and any of them could make this list of the best Instagram spots in Kuala Lumpur.
While Jalan Alor Night Market is the most famous, I also loved Petaling Street Market during the day to really capture everyday life in Kuala Lumpur.

3. Merdeka 118
Location: Head to 134, Lorong Petaling, City Centre, 50150 Kuala Lumpur for the below photo spot!
Merdeka 118 is the 2nd tallest skyscraper in the world, just 495ft behind the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
For a great Instagram shot, visit Merdeka Grill on the 75th floor, where you can grab a drink or bite to eat above the city.
The 360-degree view is breathtaking, especially during sunset.
Personally, I loved getting the shot from the bottom to really show off the sheer size of Merdeka 118 and its unique design!

4. Heli Lounge Bar
Location: 34 Menara KH, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Bukit Bintang, 50450
Heli Lounge Bar is a helipad by day and a rooftop bar by night. Capture the 360-degree views of Kuala Lumpur’s skyline while enjoying a cocktail.
The open-air setting provides an unparalleled backdrop for sunset and night-time photos, with the Petronas Towers in the distance.
Make sure to grab a cocktail at Heli Lounge Bar during your trip to Kuala Lumpur as the views are definitely worth it!
Heli Lounge Bar is one of the best Instagram spots in Kuala Lumpur that also allows you to have a delicious cocktail while taking in the sights.

5. Sri Maha Mariamman Temple
Location: 163, Jalan Tun H S Lee, City Centre, 50000 Kuala Lumpur
Sri Maha Mariamman Temple is the oldest Hindu temple in Kuala Lumpur. Its intricate architecture and vibrant colours make it a fantastic spot for photos.
The temple’s ornate details and spiritual ambiance create a serene and visually appealing Instagram post.

6. Merdeka Square
Location: Kuala Lumpur City Centre, 50050 Kuala Lumpur
Merdeka Square is a historic site surrounded by colonial-era buildings and greenery.
The Sultan Abdul Samad Building, with its striking Moorish architecture, is the highlight here.
Capture the historic charm and the picturesque surroundings for a unique and cultural Instagram post.
7. Thean Hou Temple
Location: 65, Persiaran Endah, Taman Persiaran Desa, 50460 Kuala Lumpur
Thean Hou Temple is a six-tiered Chinese temple perched on a hill, offering stunning views of the city.
Its elaborate decorations, colourful lanterns, and intricate architecture provide countless photo opportunities.
Visit during Chinese New Year for extra festive and vibrant photos.
This is probably my favourite on this list of Instagram spots in Kuala Lumpur. We walked to Thean Hou Temple from the nearby train station and seeing it in person made the hike totally worth it.
With so much colour at every turn, Thean Hou Temple is incredible and I couldn’t stop taking pictures of it.

8. Batu Caves
Location: Gombak, 68100 Batu Caves, Selangor, Malaysia
Batu Caves, located just outside of Kuala Lumpur, is a series of limestone caves housing Hindu temples.
The giant golden statue of Lord Murugan and the colourful steps leading to the caves are iconic. The natural beauty combined with the spiritual atmosphere makes it one of the must-visit Instagram spots in Kuala Lumpur.
The steps themselves are a bit of a hike, especially in the heat, so make sure to bring water and look out for monkeys – yes, really! – but the view from the top and inside is so worth it.
The Batu Caves are like nothing I’ve ever seen before in my life, and I’m so glad we made the trip out to see it.
