Week 2 in the office x I’m a Pret girl now beca Week 2 in the office x

I’m a Pret girl now because £25 per month for up to 5x coffees a day yes sir (although I do v much miss Starbucks coffee I won’t lie)

Main takeaways from week 2 are I’m going to gain lots of weight if I keep going to the office and eating the cupcakes and croissants but we’re also not out here trying to lose 16lbs in 3 weeks to fit into a dress for all of five mins so I will enjoy the cupcakes

Last week’s books were also vv enjoyable (None of this is Serious) and sad (Joan Didion) and I need to post about 20 book reviews on my stories but slowly adjusting to being a city gurl and not having time for absolutely anything so bear with x

hello and welcome to my first week at my new jobbb hello and welcome to my first week at my new jobbb

I think this will be a cute little dump every week to look back on my week at work (see, we romanticise everything here) and what I get up to since I’ll be heading into the office the odd day too x

My first week included a visit to the BAFTA headquarters for a panel talk on attention which was v cool

The books I read in March 📚 I neeeed to stop t The books I read in March 📚

I neeeed to stop taking books out of the library or else I won’t get through the 70+ books I have on my shelves.

However I did manage to read some good library books in March and added in March’s @booksthatmatteruk book and one I picked up from @shakespeareandcoparis on my jollies so only one book slipped off my actual book shelf last month 🥲

My faves in March:
• The Innocent
• How to be Famous
• Noughts & Crosses
• Bridget Jones’s Diary
• Invisible Girl

The books I read in September!! I have to admit The books I read in September!!

I have to admit September was my worst month of the year and of course the first one I chose to document. With moving to London, catching up with people and spending all my money at the West End, reading took a bit of a back seat this month. Howeverrr here are some short reviews (full reviews can be found on the blog x) - also tell me what you’re reading and loving as I need some new books for the shelves!

50. Truly, Madly, Guilty by Liane Moriarty - 3/5
This is the third book I've read by Liane Moriarty and I seem to compare every book to Big Little Lies but it wasn't quite up there with that one. However, there were a lot of twists, turns and unexpected curve balls which I loved. Took me a little longer than I wanted to read, but still enjoyable.

51. The Midnight Library by Matt Haig (gifted) - 5/5
This has been on my reading list all year so I was pleasantly surprised when this copy landed in my postbox from Canongate. It reminded me a little of Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine but I loved the life lessons and it reallyyy did make me think about life and regrets and purpose. A very thought-provoking book that I would hugely recommend.

52. The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg (Gifted) - 4/5
Because Atomic Habits by @jamesclear literally changed my entire life, I had very high hopes for this one. However, TPoH was much more about the science of habit and how to recognize and change a habit. A lot of useful information and I learnt all about the marketing behind Febreeze which I found v enlightening

One of the best things about returning to London i One of the best things about returning to London is being able to catch up with friends I haven’t seen in literal YEARS. And it helps that I organize these catch-ups to revolve around brunch so I can check out some new avocado toast spots 😋

Excited that this weekend revolves around more catch-ups and seeing my absolute fav @dermotkennedy at Ally Pally. First concert after covid and couldn’t be more excited. Also ironic that my last concert pre-covid was seeing Dermot at Radio City Hall in NYC - how life works!

But if you know me you’ll know concerts/gigs are my fav things on earth so the excitement is very much REAL for tomorrow 🤩
My most recent article in Strategic Magazine (Autu My most recent article in Strategic Magazine (Autumn 2021 issue) looked at the ethics of online social media influencers.

When you think of influencers who edit their images, and advertise products they have no interest in or have never used before then it's easy to disregard any ethics that influencers hold.

However, there are good influencers out there that promote important topics such as sustainable fashion and consumption, educate their followers on climate change and important issues and self-development.

Influencers - are they ethical or unethical or are they just human like the rest of us?
