The Best Harlan Coben Books to Read
Below are the best Harlan Coben books that I’ve read and the order I’d recommend reading them if you haven’t read a Harlan Coben book before!

1. Home by Harlan Coben
Ten years after the shocking kidnapping of two young boys, only one is found, leaving more questions than answers. Myron Bolitar and his friend Win uncover the now-teenager’s whereabouts, but the mystery deepens—where has he been for a decade, and what does he know about his still-missing friend? As they dig into the past, they unravel a dark and emotional thriller about loss, survival, and the unbreakable ties of family and friendship.
My rating: ★★★★★
This was my first Harlan Coben book, and I flew through it. It’s such an easy, fast-paced read! The dialogue-heavy style makes it clear why his books adapt so well to TV. I’d been wanting to read more mystery novels after enjoying a couple of Netflix series based on his work, so when I spotted Home in the half-price section at The Strand, I had to grab it. The story was gripping, and while I did see some plot twists coming, it was still a great, entertaining read! From reading a few of his books now, I’d say this tops the list of best Harlan Coben books.

Harlan Coben’s books are always such an easy and thrilling read, and Stay Close was no exception. Packed with unexpected twists and turns, it kept me hooked from start to finish. The connections between the characters were surprising, and the ending was totally unpredictable. 3. The Innocent by Harlan Coben
Matt Hunter thought he had left his troubled past behind after serving time for an accidental killing, building a new life as a lawyer and falling in love. But just as things seem stable, his world is thrown into chaos once more—someone is following him, and the life he fought so hard to rebuild is suddenly under threat. As paranoia sets in, Matt realizes he can’t trust anyone, not even those he loves the most.
My rating: ★★★★★
The Innocent was another fantastic read from Harlan Coben—this being the fifth or sixth of his books I’ve read, and he never disappoints! It was so gripping, I could’ve easily finished it in one sitting. Coben’s knack for out-of-the-box twists and turns always keeps me on the edge of my seat. It’s no wonder so many of his books get adapted into TV series. He’s definitely a go-to author for me, and I’d happily read all of his books back-to-back!

4. Run Away by Harlan Coben
A parent’s desperate search for their lost daughter takes a harrowing turn when they spot her busking in Central Park—wasted, terrified, and barely recognizable. When she flees, they follow, plunging into a dangerous underworld ruled by crime, drugs, and violence. As they navigate this treacherous world, trying to save their daughter, they soon realize their own life is now at risk, and nowhere is truly safe.
My rating: ★★★★★
Run Away is another winner from Harlan Coben! What I love most about his writing is the unexpected twists and turns, along with the familiar reappearing characters and the constant setting of New York/New Jersey. Run Away was especially full of intense twists, some gore, and an ending I didn’t see coming. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves a fast-paced, gripping thriller!

Hold Tight was my second Harlan Coben book, and I found it in a Little Free Library in Ithaca, New York. It didn’t disappoint! This thriller/murder-mystery kept me hooked, and I loved how everything came together at the end. Harlan Coben’s writing is so engaging, and it’s easy to see why many of his books get adapted into TV series. Definitely another great read from him!

Caught by Harlan Coben was another thrilling ride! Harlan Coben writes detective/thriller novels so well, always packed with twists, turns, and chapter endings that keep you hooked. When Michael is diagnosed, the couple is thrust into a race against time, where the cure exists, but so do many ways to die.

Miracle Cure by Harlan Coben wasn’t my favourite of his books. But it does tackle a delicate medical condition and, over time, it hasn’t aged as well. It’s still full of twists and turns, which is what you’d expect from Harlan Coben. But I wouldn’t recommend it as your first book if you’re new to his work.
