The Best Lucy Foley Books to Road
Below are the best Lucy Foley books to read and the order I would recommend to read them!
1. The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley
Jess needs a fresh start. She’s broke and alone, and she’s just left her job under less than ideal circumstances. Her half-brother Ben didn’t sound thrilled when she asked if she could crash with him for a bit, but he didn’t say no, and surely everything will look better from Paris. Only when she shows up – to find a very nice apartment, could Ben really have afforded this? – he’s not there.
The longer Ben stays missing, the more Jess starts to dig into her brother’s situation, and the more questions she has. Ben’s neighbours are an eclectic bunch, and not particularly friendly. Jess may have come to Paris to escape her past, but it’s starting to look like it’s Ben’s future that’s in question.
My Rating: ★★★★★
The Paris Apartment may be one of the best Lucy Foley books that I’ve read. Lucy Foley writes a great murder mystery, and The Paris Apartment is told in the same style as her previous two books with each chapter being told from a different person’s point of view and almost every single chapter ending with a cliffhanger.
I don’t know how she does it, but there are so many twists and turns that you are never able to guess what’s happening next and whodunnit. Amazing.
2. The Midnight Feast by Lucy Foley
On the glittering opening night of The Manor, a lavish new luxury resort, everything appears perfectly curated: flowing cocktails, pristine linen outfits, and guests basking in midsummer indulgence. But beneath the polished surface, tensions simmer as old friends, buried grudges, and long-held secrets converge for a weekend meant to celebrate new beginnings.
As the festivities unfold, the past intrudes with deadly force. Set against an eerie ancient forest and told through multiple perspectives, the story slowly peels back layers of lies, ambition, and betrayal. With everyone hiding something and motives colliding, the question is no longer who has secrets, but who will survive when they finally come to light.
My Rating: ★★★★
It’s been a while since I’ve read a book by Lucy Foley, but considering I’ve read many other best Lucy Foley books, it would be rude to leave this one on my shelf. It was very White Lotus/Liane Moriarty style of writing and with the very short chapters, was very easy to read.
There were a lot of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming at all, so it was a very strong 4-star read for me, and probably one of my favourites from her.
3. The Guest List by Lucy Foley
On an island off the windswept Irish coast, guests gather for the wedding of the year – the marriage of Jules Keegan and Will Slater. Old friends. Past grudges. Happy families. Hidden jealousies. Thirteen guests. One body.
The wedding cake has barely been cut when one of the guests is found dead. And as a storm unleashes its fury on the island, everyone is trapped. All have a secret. All have a motive. One guest won’t leave this wedding alive…
My Rating: ★★★★
We find ourselves on the remote island of Inis for Lucy Foley’s The Guest List. I really enjoyed how this was told from the perspectives of different people throughout and how the story tied together with different connections.
The suspense was there throughout and I couldn’t guess who the murderer was at all, which is the making of a great murder mystery novel, and one of the best Lucy Foley books.
4. The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley
Everyone’s invited. Everyone’s a suspect. Bristling with tension, bitter rivalries, and toxic friendships, get ready for the most hotly-anticipated thriller of 2019. In a remote hunting lodge, deep in the Scottish wilderness, old friends gather for New Year.
The beautiful one, the golden couple, the volatile one, the new parents, the quiet one, the city boy, the outsider. The victim. Not an accident – a murder among friends.
My Rating: ★★★★
Like all of the best Lucy Foley books that I’ve read, the format remains the same in each. An event takes place and then the book goes back in time to tell the story from the run-up to the event but also mixed in with some post-event happenings.
It’s very Agatha Christie/whodunnit kind of book, but it really makes you engage with the characters and try to suss out who the guilty person is.
The Best Lucy Foley Books to Read in Order
And there you have it, the best Lucy Foley books that I’ve read so far.
To my knowledge, Lucy Foley only has another four books in her catalogue that I haven’t gotten around to reading yet.
I’ll be making it my mission to get through Lucy’s entire catalogue of books before long, so make sure to check back if you’re a Lucy Foley fan to see which of her books I recommend next!
