This blog post is all about my DJI Pocket 3 review.

If you’re a travel content creator or just someone who loves capturing adventures, you probably know how important it is to have the right camera gear.
But when you’re on the move (especially if you’re backpacking) carrying bulky equipment just isn’t practical.
That’s why I’m obsessed with the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. It’s compact, powerful, and makes travel vlogging a breeze.
Here’s why it’s become a must-have in my backpack!
This blog post is all about my DJI Osmo Pocket 3 review as a travel vlogger.
Pocket 3 Review: What is the DJI Osmo Pocket 3?
The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is a tiny, handheld camera with a built-in gimbal. It’s about the size of a chocolate bar (yes, that small!), but it packs a serious punch when it comes to video quality and features.
Whether you’re walking through bustling city streets, hiking up mountains, or simply capturing everyday moments, this little device keeps your footage smooth and professional-looking thanks to its 3-axis gimbal, which reduces shaky shots.
With 4K video, improved stabilisation, and upgraded features compared to previous models, the Osmo Pocket 3 is perfect for anyone wanting high-quality content without dragging a full-sized camera around.
You can see the quality and picture in one of my backpacking Asia vlogs below:
Pocket 3 Review: Key Features of the DJI Osmo Pocket 3
Let’s talk about the features that make the Osmo Pocket 3 such a game-changer:
4K/60fps Video
The video quality is sharp and smooth, perfect for travel vlogs, especially when you’re capturing fast-paced action.
3-Axis Gimbal Stabilization
This is the star feature! Whether you’re walking, running, or even in a moving vehicle, the footage stays steady. Goodbye, shaky clips!
ActiveTrack 6.0
You can lock onto a subject (or yourself) with ActiveTrack, and the camera will automatically keep you in the frame, making it great for solo travellers who are often filming without help.

Pocket 3 Review: How I Use the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 for Travel Vlogs
As a digital nomad, my travel vlogs are the heart of my content.
I need gear that’s lightweight, easy to use, and capable of producing high-quality footage. And the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 nails all of that.
Here’s how I typically use it while on the road:
Capturing On-the-Go Footage
Whether I’m walking through the busy city streets of Hanoi or hiking Mount Fuji in Japan, the Osmo Pocket 3’s stabilisation ensures my footage is smooth.
I don’t have to worry about camera shake even if I’m moving quickly.
Vlogging on the Move
I often find myself vlogging in spontaneous moments, like hopping onto a tuk-tuk in Sri Lanka or catching an incredible sunset in Thailand.
The Osmo Pocket 3 is perfect for these moments. Just whip it out of your pocket, and you’re ready to go.
Timelapse for Scenic Shots
I love setting it up for time-lapse shots of beautiful landscapes or even bustling local markets.
It adds a dynamic element to my travel videos, especially when I want to showcase a place in a more artistic way.
Selfie Mode
Because of the ActiveTrack feature, I can easily flip the camera, and it follows me while I talk to the camera.
This is especially handy when I’m doing solo travel content and want the focus to stay on me.
Pocket 3 Review: Why I Recommend the DJI Osmo Pocket 3
Honestly, I can’t recommend this little camera enough.
It’s become my go-to for creating content because it checks all the boxes for what I need as a travel creator.
If you’re a backpacker or someone who wants to vlog without the hassle of carrying heavy gear, the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is perfect.
Compact and Lightweight: It’s incredibly portable. Ideal for travel, especially when backpacking. It barely takes up any space in my bag, and I love that I can always have it with me without feeling weighed down.
Easy to Use: The Osmo Pocket 3 is intuitive and doesn’t require any complicated setup. You can literally just pull it out, turn it on, and start shooting. No fumbling with settings or heavy equipment.
Great for Solo Travellers: Since I often vlog solo, the ActiveTrack and FaceTrack features are a lifesaver. I don’t need a cameraman to keep me in the frame. The Osmo Pocket 3 does all the work for me!

Pocket 3 Review: Pros and Cons of the DJI Osmo Pocket 3
Below are both pros and cons to the DJI Osmo Pocket 3:
Pros:
- Incredible stabilisation: Say goodbye to shaky footage!
- 4K video quality: Super sharp, professional-looking content.
- Portable: Fits so easily into your pocket or backpack.
- Versatile features: Time-lapse, slow-motion, and also ActiveTrack are all great for creative shots.
- Easy to use: Perfect for quick, on-the-go shooting.
Cons:
- Audio quality: While the built-in mic is decent, it’s not the best for windy or noisy environments. I’d recommend using an external microphone for better audio.
- Battery life: It’s good but not amazing. You’ll want to carry a portable charger or a power bank if you’re planning a long day of filming.
- Screen size: The small screen can be a bit tricky to use for framing shots or playback, but I typically connect it to my phone for easier control.
Pocket 3 Review: Is the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Worth it for Backpackers?
Absolutely! The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is probably one of the best tools for travel vloggers and also backpackers.
Its small size means it fits easily into your daypack, and you’ll barely notice it’s there.
The quality of the footage is on par with much larger, heavier cameras, so you don’t have to compromise on the visuals just because you want to travel light.
When you’re hopping between countries with just a backpack, every inch of space counts. The Osmo Pocket 3 takes up so little space but delivers so much in terms of features and video quality.
Pocket 3 Review: Should You Get the DJI Osmo Pocket 3?
So if you’re serious about documenting your travels and want a camera that’s powerful, portable, and easy to use, the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is a fantastic investment.
It’s become my go-to for all my travel vlogs, and I don’t think I’d travel without it. From its incredible stabilisation to its compact design, it’s everything you could want in a travel camera.
Whether you’re hiking through mountains or wandering through vibrant city streets, the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 has your back.
It’s the perfect balance of power and portability for anyone looking to capture their adventures in high quality. Without the hassle of lugging around heavy gear.
