Let’s talk about that gig. Now, I’ve been to a fair few Picture This gigs before (three to be exact) but their most recent show at the o2 Academy in Brixton is one that I, and I think the band, will remember for a very long time.
This was my first time at a Picture This gig outside of the emerald isle, but whilst in the room, you felt like you had been transported back to Ireland for the night as the majority of those in attendance were in fact, Irish.

Who are they?
Picture This are an Irish band made up of four boys from County Kildare, not far from Dublin. You could describe them as the rock alternative version of Westlife.
I kid.
The band are probably most known for their song ‘Take My Hand’ which closes out their set list on every tour – but what a song to end to.
The four-piece have released three albums now with the most recent being Life in Colour. With each album comes a new-ish sound, but the band pull it off very well and have some very good tunes that you will surely recognise.
Why it was that show
The London gig has been numerously referred to as that show as it really was that show. It was something spectacular that I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed at a gig before.
If you think the gig you’re at is loud, times that by 100 and that’s the level of volume you had at the Picture This gig. They even had to turn up the lead singer Ryan’s microphone and ear pieces a few times as the sound in the auditorium was drowning him out a little.
However, I will say that I’ve been to a few gigs in the o2 in Brixton, and they’ve all been rather loud acoustically with the fans being on another scale volume-wise. Perhaps it’s the acoustics of the venue (it’s also one of the best venues for standing concerts as the ground actually slopes downwards towards the stage) but I will say that this concert was particularly louder than all of the others I’ve been to.
Although in my humble and Irish opinion, I do think Irish crowds are always just that bit more special. Bands and artists alike always say that they love playing in Ireland as the crowds are always so loud and up for a good time. We just have great energy I guess (and good voices).
Will I see them for a fifth time?
Um, without a doubt, yes. As long as they keep singing, I’ll keep buying concert tickets.
For the songs they write, the talent they have and the quality of the music, Picture This should be a household name the world over. Although they don’t yet have the level of fame I would associate with the likes of The Script or even Westlife for that matter, I think it’s only a matter of time before the rest of the world cops on and recognizes them for the band that they are.
Give it time, they’ll be massive.
