This blog post is all about my Kid Francescoli concert review.

Known mostly for the TikTok-viral song ‘Moon (And It Went Like)’, I was very excited to attend Kid Francescoli’s first ever Australian gig in the Oxford Art Factory in Sydney.
The French trio are famous for their synth-pop sound, reminiscent of Fred Again and other mellow dance-genre producers.
All I can say before we get into this review, is that the night was full of vibes, vibes and more good vibes.
This blog post is all about my Kid Francescoli concert review in Sydney, Australia.
Who is Kid Francescoli?
From Marseille in France, Kid Francescoli (real name Mathieu Hocine) is a synth-pop act accompanied by vocalist and guitarist Andrea Durand, as well as drummer Raphael Leger.
His sound is one that transports you to a tropical beach in the Mediterranean. If you close your eyes, you could be on a beach in the South of France, dancing while the sun goes down. But instead, you’re in a sweaty underground club in 30-degree Sydney.
Not quite the same.

The Venue: Oxford Art Factory
This was my third music venue to visit in Sydney as I had previously seen Luke Combs in the Accor Stadium and the Courteeners in the Metro Theatre.
Oxford Art Factory was definitely on the smaller scale, compared to the above, but I loved the intimate feel of the room and how the bands could interact with the crowd.
The venue felt like something similar to a university student union and I enjoyed the young, energetic atmosphere.
Support Act: Barley Passable
Australian duo Barley Passable were the support act on the night and although seeming somewhat new to the live performance scene, they put on a great opener and had the crowd dancing and grooving in the lead up to the main act.
There were strobe lights, electric guitars, synth-keyboards, passionate vocals and very enthusiastic head-banging.
The two guys seemed very appreciative of the opportunity Kid Francescoli had given them to perform as the opening act, and they put on a great performance.
Barley Passable are ones to watch in the dance scene for sure.

The Main Act: Kid Francescoli Concert Review
Coming on stage to shouts of ‘Allez’, it was clear the French crowd had come out in their numbers to support one of their own.
Even with a few ‘merci’s slipped in, Kid Francescoli kept his chatter to English for the benefit of the entire crowd, even though I may have been only one of a minor few that weren’t French in the audience.
The atmosphere, sound and crowd happily transported me to a club in Paris for the night and it was a solid 90 minutes of dancing, grooving and head-nodding along to the synth beats.
Kid Francescoli had a second performance in Melbourne to end his small run of Australia shows, but I have a strong feeling he’ll be back again soon.
Kid Francescoli Concert: The Set List
With seven albums under his belt, it was a night of hits followed by more hits.
Stand out songs on the night included ‘Run, Run,’ ‘Nopalitos,’ ‘Take Time,’ and ‘The Morning After’.
The group closed the show with the crowd-pleaser ‘Moon (And It Went Like)’, the song that made them a global name thanks to TikTok, and at the time of writing this, has over 138 million streams on Spotify.

Concerts & Gigs Coming Up Next
It was a very music-themed week for me in Sydney. First up was the Kid Francescoli concert on Thursday, followed by Kasabian on Saturday and Dermot Kennedy’s Misneach Festival on the Sunday.
Keep your eyes peeled for my upcoming concert reviews for Kasabian, who were supported by Blossoms, and then a day of Irish music at Misneach Festival with performances by Kneecap, Amble, The Frames, Matt Corby and Dermot Kennedy.
Other than that, I don’t have anything else lined up until Oasis in August, but we know that won’t be the case so make sure to check back and see what music gigs I end up at this month and next!
