The Best Alex Michaelides Books to Read in Order
Below are the best Alex Michaelides books to read, and in the order you should read them (from my most favourite to least favourite).

1. The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
The Silent Patient follows Alicia Berenson, a famous painter who seemingly has the perfect life — until one evening when she shoots her husband and then never speaks another word.
Her complete silence turns the case into a media obsession, and Alicia becomes a mystery no one can unravel.
Enter Theo Faber, a criminal psychotherapist determined to get her to talk and uncover the truth about what really happened.
As he digs deeper into Alicia’s past and her artwork, Theo discovers shocking secrets that lead to a twist no one could have predicted.
My Rating: ★★★★★
The Silent Patient completely blew me away. From the very beginning, I was hooked on trying to piece together how the characters were connected, only to be left stunned by a twist I truly didn’t see coming.
Alex Michaelides crafts a gripping, atmospheric thriller that builds tension with every chapter, leading to an ending that will have you gasping in shock.
It’s the kind of book that lingers in your mind long after you’ve finished, and a must-read for anyone who loves psychological thrillers or crime fiction.

2. The Fury by Alex Michaelides
A glamorous ex–movie star, Lana Farrar, invites her closest friends to her private Greek island for Easter—but the idyllic getaway turns deadly when one of them is murdered. Trapped by a storm and haunted by secrets, long-buried grudges and desires for revenge rise to the surface.
Narrated by the enigmatic Elliot Chase, this is a twisty tale of love, betrayal, and violence where nothing is as it seems, and the truth is more shocking than the headlines.
My Rating: ★★★★
I thoroughly enjoyed the drama of this book. It was fun to try and work out if we were rooting for the narrator or not, but I did guess the twist that was going to come at the climax of the book.
Even so, the book was still highly enjoyable and kept me hooked to find out what would happen at the end, and how it would all unravel as there were more twists to come that I didn’t see coming.

3. The Maidens by Alex Michaelides
Edward Fosca is a murderer. Of this Mariana is certain. But Fosca is untouchable.
A handsome and charismatic Greek Tragedy professor at Cambridge University, Fosca is adored by staff and students alike—particularly by the members of a secret society of female students known as The Maidens.
Mariana Andros is a brilliant but troubled group therapist who becomes fixated on The Maidens when one member, a friend of Mariana’s niece Zoe, is found murdered in Cambridge.
My Rating: ★★★★
As the same author of The Silent Patient, I have had Alex Michaelides’ newest release on my list for a long time and was thrilled to find it in my local library.
I will admit, this wasn’t as good as The Silent Patient but there was a little Easter egg thrown in to this book to link The Silent Patient which I enjoyed.
A lot of twists and turns throughout, and I didn’t expect the ending at all. However, I reduced a star as I didn’t really understand the purpose/motivation behind the murders and the reasoning for them just didn’t click for me. A little far-fetched for me.
The Best Alex Michaelides Books to Read
With just three books so far, Alex Michaelides has already made a huge mark on the psychological thriller genre.
For me, The Silent Patient still holds the top spot of this Best Alex Michaelides Books list with its unforgettable twist and tightly woven storytelling, while The Fury comes in second for its clever pacing and unique setup.
The Maidens, though atmospheric and full of dark academia vibes, didn’t quite hit the same high for me — but it’s still worth reading if you enjoy Greek mythology woven into your thrillers.
No matter where you choose to start, these best Alex Michaelides books are guaranteed to keep you guessing until the very last page.
If you’re a fan of twisty, character-driven mysteries, all three deserve a spot on your TBR.
