Where is Colombo?

Colombo is the capital city of Sri Lanka, located on the island’s west coast, right along the Indian Ocean.

It’s the largest city in the country and serves as Sri Lanka’s commercial and cultural hub, blending modern development with colonial charm and authentic Sri Lankan life.

How to Get to Colombo

Colombo is well connected by road, rail, and air. The Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) is about 30–45 minutes from the city centre (depending on traffic).

You can reach the city by airport taxi, Uber, or PickMe (Sri Lanka’s local ride-hailing app).

If you’re coming from other parts of the country, train and bus links to Colombo Fort Station are frequent and affordable. It’s a great starting or ending point for any Sri Lanka itinerary.
