This blog post is all about the best restaurants in Hoboken, New Jersey. While living in Newport by Jersey City, I tried a lot of restaurants in Hoboken, and these are the best that I tried.

I’ve had this blog post planned for a while as I love to go to Hoboken for really great food.
It’s only a ten minute walk from where I live in Newport, and there are so many incredible restaurants lining Washington Street and hidden in the streets behind, that I’ve been dying to try all of them.
This list of the best restaurants in Hoboken covers the best restaurants that I’ve personally tried myself and love.

The Best Restaurants in Hoboken, New Jersey
Hoboken is probably my favourite area of New Jersey that I’ve explored.
It’s very quaint and reminds me of Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls. The roads are cobbled and the shops have very old-fashion fronts, even the Starbucks.
It’s the birthplace of Frank Sinatra and American baseball. Hoboken also boasts the best waterfront view of Manhattan along with great bars and restaurants, and we take a walk along the waterfront almost every evening.
This may be a list of the best restaurants in Hoboken, but if I’m honest, I’m probably better acquainted with the bars and nightclubs of Hoboken as I’ve spent time in a fair few, and fun fact for you, it’s where I met my boyfriend.
So Hoboken will always hold a special place in my heart, and that’s why we visit every single time we take a trip to New York. You can see Hoboken and Jersey City in my Christmas Day in New York vlog on YouTube as we spent the morning there:
And now, here are the best restaurants in Hoboken that you should try:
1. Fiore’s House of Quality
Address: 414 Adams Street, Hoboken, NJ 07030
This is a very famous cash-only Italian deli and sells a specific speciality sandwich each day. There will only be one item on the menu every day, so you’ve been warned.
Fiore’s Deli’s most famous is the roast beef, mozzarella (or ‘mutz’ as they call it) and gravy. Yep, gravy in a sandwich.
It’s only served on Saturdays and Thursdays, so be wise with your choice of day that you visit!
One of the most famous Italian delis in Hoboken, Fiore’s has been serving the people of the area since 1903. Customers have included Frank Sinatra, Danny De Vito and the casts of The Sopranos and Law and Order.
Expect it to be busy when you arrive and note that these sandwiches are huge, so ask for half if you’re not yet ready to conquer a whole one.
Fiore’s is a Hoboken institution, so I’d highly recommend visiting and taking the sandwich to the Hoboken waterfront to have lunch with an incredible skyline view of Manhattan.

2. JP’S Bagel Express
Address: 52 Newark Street, Hoboken, NJ 07030
I may be keeping JP’s Bagel Express in business right now as I’m buying bagels here three times per week or more.
The staff are always friendly and they don’t hold back on the portions.
The bagels are freshly baked and prepared here every day, and they’ve got just about everything you could want to add to your bagel or sandwich.
Every time we’ve turned up we have received great service and great food. The best bagel shop in Hoboken for breakfast or lunch.

You’ll see in my New York YouTube vlog below, that even after so many years, we still revisit Hoboken and our favourite food spots:
3. La Isla
Address: 104 Washington Street, Hoboken, NJ 07030
I visited this quaint Cuban restaurant on New Year’s Eve of all days, for some lunch to line the stomach pre-night out.
The food was delicious and it was my first time trying plantain. I remember being so excited to see a cocktail menu as beers and happy hour bottles are much more popular here than cocktails.
The vibe of La Isla is stunning with tiled, mosaic floors and Cuban artefacts.
La Isla has been serving Hoboken incredible Cuban food since 1970, so if you’re looking for a local favourite and one of the best restaurants in Hoboken for Cuban flavours, look no further than La Isla.

4. Bluestone Lane
Address: 409 Washington Street, Hoboken, NJ 07030
If you’re looking for one of the best brunch restaurants in Hoboken, then you’ll have to add Blue Lane to your list.
Yes, it’s a bit of a New York-chain, but for good reason, and thankfully there’s one in Hoboken so you don’t even have to travel into the city for it.
You’ll find Blue Lane on my list of the best breakfast and brunch spots around Hoboken and Jersey City, and I recommend it to anyone that’s staying in Hoboken.
The breakfasts are always beautifully prepared and presented, and it helps that it tastes pretty great too!

My Favourite of the Restaurants in Hoboken, New Jersey
So there you have the best restaurants in Hoboken that you should add to your list of where to eat next.
I’ve covered breakfast, lunch and dinner for you and have more yet to come as I continue to explore more of Hoboken and the wider Jersey City area.
My top recommendation is JP’s Express Bagels (they’re my favourite) and Fiore’s for their iconic roast beef and gravy sandwich.
