Is there anything more iconic than a slice of New York pizza? What used to be referred to as the ‘dollar slice’ is more like a four dollar slice these days, thanks to inflation.
When I lived in New York, the ‘dollar’ slice was my dinner a few nights per week. I tried and tested many slice shops across the city, from Manhattan into Brooklyn and wanted to put together a list of my favourites.
There’s nothing quite like a New York pizza and I’ve put together the below list of my favourite slices and pies, giving you a pizza crawl around the city on your next trip.
The 9 Best Pizza Slices in New York City

1. John’s of Bleecker Street
Address: 278 Bleecker Street, New York, NY 10014
Our personal favourite! However, you’ll have to buy a full pizza pie here as they don’t sell by the slice.
And you’ll soon see why, as one slice just won’t be enough!
Probably one of the most famous pizza spots in New York, so be prepared to queue but it’s totally worth it.

2. Lucali
Address: 575 Henry Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231
If you’re lucky, you might see Jay-Z sat at the table next to you as this is his favourite spot for New York pizza.
However, the host starts taking names for tables at 5pm and the line starts to form around 3pm. You’ll need to be committed, but it’s worth it!

3. L’Industrie
Brooklyn Address: 245 S 2nd Street, Brooklyn, NY 11211
Manhattan Address:104 Christopher Street, New York, NY 10014
Lives up to the TikTok hype! They’ve also just opened another branch in the West Village, which makes it easier to visit if you’re based in Manhattan, but I think I preferred the Brooklyn location.
They have some really good toppings so branch out a little from the usual margarita.

4. Di Fara
Address: 1424 Avenue J, Brooklyn, NY 11230
Iconic take-out pizza in the heart (depths) of Brooklyn.
A little out of the way, but worth the trek for a full pizza pie sat on the side of the street. And when I say full pizza pie, it’s huge so bring a few friends to share it with you.

5. Joe’s Pizza
Address: 7 Carmine Street, New York, NY 10014
The quintessential New York slice, and yes, the pizza shop from the Spiderman movie.
Make sure you go to the original location in the West Village for the best slice and to see many photos of famous faces that have also had a slice there.
It’s pretty iconic for a reason and we never take a trip to New York without grabbing a slice from here.

6. Paulie Gee’s
Slice Shop Address: 110 Franklin Street, Brooklyn, NY 11222
Pie Shop Address: 60 Greenpoint Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11222
So good they have two locations. One shop for slices and another for pies only.
Make sure to get the hellboy slice with their famous honey sauce. This might even just be my favourite New York slice ever!

7. Prince Street Pizza
Address: 27 Prince Street A, New York, NY 10012
It’s all about the spicy spring pepperoni slice here. A popular place, but worth waiting in the queue.
And you can also celeb spot in the photos around the walls while you do wait.

8. Roberta’s
Address: 261 Moore Street, Brooklyn, NY 11206
A Bushwick institution. Ideal for a large group of you with the outdoor industrial space that Bushwick is famous for.
Very typical Bushwick-style, great for a summer’s day with their outdoor garden to soak up the sun and pizza grease.

9. Bleecker Street Pizza
Address: 69 7th Avenue South, New York, NY 10014
A must-try is the Nonna Marie slice.
A great stop after a night out on MacDougal Street for a slice that’s worth your $3, because the $1 slice simply doesn’t exist any more.
