This blog post is all about the best coffee shops to work from in Liverpool. As a digital nomad in Liverpool, I am always looking for new coffee shops to work from.

These are the best coffee shops to work from in the city centre to the Baltic Triangle to Lark Lane and everywhere in between.

There are so many coffee shops to work from in Liverpool.

Whether you’re a digital nomad, a freelancer, work from home or want to spend a morning on your laptop.

Since living in Liverpool to study at university and coming back after my year in New York (because there’s really nowhere else I would rather be), I’ve wanted to list my favourite working cafes in Liverpool.

When writing my dissertation in my final year, I couldn’t concentrate in the university library and I was getting way too distracted by the fridge at home.

So I went on a little expedition of the best coffee shops to work from in Liverpool.

It did help that one of the best coffee shops to work from in Liverpool was located right across the street from my apartment.

So that’s where I found myself most days. The others also offered a solace to get my work done and hand in my assignments on time.

The Best Coffee Shops to Work from in Liverpool

Below are my favourite and the best coffee shops to work from in Liverpool.

Whether you’re a student and need a coffee shop to study from, or want to get some remote work done, this is the list for you.

1. Bold Street Coffee, Bold Street

Address: 89 Bold Street, Liverpool L1 4HF

One of my favourite spots in Liverpool for brunch, I love the hustle and bustle of Bold Street Coffee.

Even on a weekday morning you can find there to be a queue of people waiting for a table at Bold Street Coffee due to its small size.

But I love the busyness and atmosphere of the cafe on Bold Street, which makes it a great place to grab a coffee and do some work for a few hours on a laptop.

One of the best coffee shops to work from in Liverpool during the week as the weekends tend to get busy.

And when you’re there, you must order some hash-browns. They’re honestly the best hash-browns I’ve ever had in my life.

So much so, we refer to them as crack-browns.

2. Bean Coffee, Princes Dock

Address: Princes Dock, William Jessop Way, Liverpool L3 1DJ

I have only very recently discovered Bean Coffee as it’s now the closest coffee shop to where I live on the docks.

A large open-space cafe that’s usually relatively quiet, it’s the perfect place to come and get work done.

I’ve only been able to benefit from the sit-in experience once since I moved back to Liverpool, but I probably visit for a takeaway coffee three mornings a week.

The beauty of Bean Coffee is that it also opens at 7am every morning (except weekends when it’s closed) so that when I continue to wake up at 6.30am every morning, I can head to Bean Coffee in the mornings to get some blog work done before my real office work begins.

This is definitely one of the best coffee shops to work from in Liverpool as it has a lot of tables, is usually quiet and also has many large windows for lots of natural light.

3. Press Bros. Coffee, Lark Lane

Address: 82 Lark Lane, Liverpool L17 8UU

I love Lark Lane in Liverpool.

It’s a bus-ride out of the city centre, but so worth it. This street is full of independent shops, restaurants and bars and a perfect date night spot too.

Think Bold Street, but a non-tourist version. And instead of the Bombed Out Church at the top of the street, you have Sefton Park. Beautiful.

Anyway, love letter to Lark Lane over, Press Bros. Coffee is one of the best coffee shops to work from in Liverpool outside the city centre.

Great coffee, strong WiFi and the friendliest customer service. Need I say more?

I’ve followed founder Oli Press on Instagram for years and have loved watching him and his brother grow from success to success, starting in the Baltic Market (another great spot to visit) to now having their own shop on Lark Lane.

4. Ryde, Baltic Triangle

I’ve only recently discovered Ryde Cafe while walking through the Baltic Triangle area of Liverpool.

Ok, I’ll admit that it’s been every time I’ve been to visit the Baltic Market as it’s directly opposite and I’ve been to eat a few times since returning to Liverpool.

On the occasion that I’ve fancied a coffee after stuffing myself with everything delightful on offer at the Baltic Market, I’ve popped into Ryde, a bicycle repair shop come coffee shop located across the way.

I had added it to my Liverpool brunch list but have yet to experience their breakfast menu due to covid lockdowns.

However, on the few occasions that I’ve grabbed takeaway coffee, the place has looked very cosy and an ideal place to come and get some work done as it’s quiet and seems a great place to concentrate while drinking excellent coffee.

5. Rococo, Lord Street

Address: First Floor, 61 Lord Street, Liverpool L2 6PB

A very popular spot among the locals of Liverpool, Rococo Coffee House is deep in the heart of Liverpool City Centre, across from the McDonald’s and up a flight of stairs on the main street.

Rococo can be very busy on weekends but I adore the layout of the place with many different rooms that feels like you’re popping over to someone’s house for lunch.

When working, I prefer to grab a table in the front room beside the coffee bar where I can look out over the main high street of Liverpool while doing my work.

I’m a people-watcher and I love to be able to work and also watch the world go by.

Some call it nosy, some call it sociable (more-so, nosy).

It’s one of the best coffee shops to work from in Liverpool in the city centre.

6. Duke Street Market, Ropewalks

Address: 46 Duke Street, Liverpool L1 5AS

Duke Street Market is an excellent place to get work done in Liverpool.

Especially if you’re looking for coffee shops to work from in Liverpool at night or in the evening.

The interiors are my favourite with so much natural light and space to people watch all day.

The only down-side is that they open at 12pm on the weekdays, but they do stay open later than your usual coffee shop.

So if you’re a night owl, Duke Street Market might be the place for you.

There’s a coffee shop right at the front, so no caffeine withdrawals here, and you’ll be more than tempted by the many food vendors here to stay for dinner too.

7. Cafe Lucaya, Water Street

Address: 22 Water Street, Liverpool L3 1BH

Cafe Lucaya is only a ten minute walk from my apartment so makes for a great midweek brunch treat.

I’ve had the eggs avocado and must say it’s one of the best I’ve had in the city. You can find it in my Liverpool brunch list.

During the week, Cafe Lucaya seems to be quiet and also has an upstairs space for extra room.

Another cafe with a lot of greenery and plants, it’s definitely a place I want to go and work with my laptop.

I noticed a few plug sockets dotted around while I was in having brunch. You can grab a great spot near a window looking directly at the Liver Building.

You won’t forget where you are any time soon!
