Areas to Consider Staying in Hong Kong
Hong Kong is a dynamic city with diverse neighbourhoods, each offering a unique experience. If you’re visiting for the first time, choosing the right area to stay in can enhance your trip.
Here are some of the best locations to consider:
1. Tsim Sha Tsui (TST) – Best for First-Time Tourists
Tsim Sha Tsui is a bustling district on the Kowloon side, known for its stunning views of Victoria Harbour, luxury shopping, and vibrant nightlife.
It’s home to iconic attractions like the Avenue of Stars, Victoria Harbour promenade, and the renowned Star Ferry.
Staying in TST means you’ll be close to major tourist spots, with easy MTR access to other parts of the city.
2. Central – Best for Luxury & Business Travellers
Central is Hong Kong’s financial and business hub, making it ideal for travellers looking for upscale hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants, and a lively nightlife scene.
The district is well-connected with MTR, trams, and ferries, providing quick access to Hong Kong Island and beyond.
If you enjoy rooftop bars, fine dining, and being in the heart of the city, Central is a great choice.
3. Mong Kok – Best for Budget Travellers & Local Vibes
For travellers looking to experience Hong Kong’s authentic side, Mong Kok is an energetic district filled with street markets, affordable eateries, and a lively local atmosphere.
It’s famous for its night markets, sneaker street, and bustling food stalls.
Budget-friendly hotels and hostels make it a great option for backpackers and those seeking a more local experience.
4. Causeway Bay – Best for Shopping & Entertainment
If shopping is a priority, Causeway Bay is the place to stay. This area is so packed with mega malls, department stores, and trendy boutiques.
It’s also a fantastic location for food lovers, offering everything from street food to high-end dining.
With easy access to Hong Kong’s MTR, you can explore the city so conveniently from here.
5. Wan Chai – Best for Nightlife & Local Culture
Wan Chai is a vibrant mix of both old and new, blending historic buildings with modern skyscrapers.
It’s known for its energetic nightlife, great local eateries, and also proximity to attractions like the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
It’s a great area for those who want a balance between both sightseeing and nightlife.
6. Tsuen Wan – Best for a More Relaxed Stay
For travellers who prefer a quieter stay away from the city centre, Tsuen Wan is also a great option. It’s a well-developed district with excellent shopping malls, parks, and waterfront promenades.
Hotel Ease Tsuen Wan is located in this area, offering a peaceful retreat while still being well-connected to the city via the MTR.
It’s so ideal for visitors who want comfort and convenience without the constant crowds of central Hong Kong.

Location of Hotel Ease, Hong Kong
Hotel Ease Tsuen Wan offers a comfortable and convenient base for travellers exploring Hong Kong.
While it’s located slightly outside the bustling city centre, its strategic position in Tsuen Wan makes it a fantastic choice for tourists who want a balance between accessibility, affordability, and a more relaxed atmosphere.
Here’s why its location stands out:
1. Well-Connected to Major Attractions
Despite being outside the typical tourist hubs like Tsim Sha Tsui and Central, Hotel Ease Tsuen Wan is well-connected to Hong Kong’s efficient public transportation system.
The nearest MTR station, Kwai Hing (on the Tsuen Wan Line), is just a short walk or shuttle ride away. From there, you can reach:
- Tsim Sha Tsui (Victoria Harbour, shopping, Avenue of Stars) in about 20 minutes
- Central (Victoria Peak, Lan Kwai Fong, business district) in 25 minutes
- Mong Kok (Ladies’ Market, street food, sneaker street) in 15 minutes
This makes it easy to explore Hong Kong while staying in a quieter, less hectic area.
2. A More Relaxed & Local Atmosphere

This area is a well-developed district with a mix of modern shopping malls, local markets, and also peaceful parks.
Staying here allows visitors to experience a different side of Hong Kong, away from the overwhelming tourist crowds.
3. Hotel Ease: Affordable & Spacious Accommodation
Hong Kong hotels, especially in prime tourist areas, can be quite expensive and compact.
Hotel Ease Tsuen Wan offers more spacious rooms at better value compared to hotels in Tsim Sha Tsui or Central.
For travellers looking for a comfortable stay without breaking the bank, this is also a great option.
4. Hotel Ease: Close to Shopping & Local Dining
Tsuen Wan is home to several large shopping centres, including D‧PARK and Tsuen Wan Plaza, where visitors can shop for fashion, electronics, and also souvenirs.
The area also has fantastic local dining options, from traditional dim sum restaurants to hidden street food gems, offering a true taste of Hong Kong’s food culture.
5. Hotel Ease: Easy Access to Hong Kong Disneyland & the Airport
For families and theme park lovers, Hong Kong Disneyland is just a 25-minute taxi or MTR ride away. So close!
Additionally, Hong Kong International Airport can be reached in about 30 minutes, making it a convenient choice for travellers arriving or departing the city.

Cost to Stay at Hotel Ease, Hong Kong
One thing to know about Hong Kong, is that it’s so expensive. We knew a lot of our budget would be spent here compared with places like Sri Lanka and Thailand.
By staying outside the city centre, we managed to find cheaper accommodation, but still a little on the expensive side.
For our four night stay in a double room, the total came to £332.72. This comes to £83.18 per night for two people.
So to split that down further, it was £166.36 each (between two of us) for the four nights, or £41.59 each, per night.
