Welcome to the Checking In series on Orlagh Claire where I review my stay in hotels, hostels and AirBnBs around the world.

Next in this series of hotel and hostel reviews is Mingle High Street, Kuala Lumpur, which was our hostel base for exploring the city for our 48 hours in Malaysia.
Make sure to check out my travel vlog on YouTube that takes you through everything we got up to in Kuala Lumpur!
You can see a room tour of Mingle Hostel (the best Kuala Lumpur hostel), where we ate and what we experienced in Kuala Lumpur below:

Mingle Hostel Location
The location of Mingle Hostel for us was great. It was a few minutes walk from the Metro station which we used to get around the city.
Plus, it was a ten minute walk from Independence Square (Merdeka Square), a top attraction in Kuala Lumpur.
Mingle Hostel was located on a busy street with coffee shops and cafes below and nearby, which we made use of during our stay.
Grab taxis were also very cheap in Kuala Lumpur and easy to hail on the app within a few minutes.
Jalan Alor, the busy street-food market was around a 20 minute walk away, and the Petronas Towers around 30 minutes away by foot.

Cost to Stay at Mingle Hostel
For a two-night stay in a private room with a bathroom, this cost us £44.91.
Which, if broken down would equate to £22.46 per night for two people, and £11.23 per night, per person.
For a city centre location, we couldn’t fault the price.
Especially when it also came with a swimming pool and lounge area as well.

Mingle Hostel Room & Amenities
Mingle Hostel itself was great and definitely could be the best Kuala Lumpur hostel.
Our room was quirky with a bunk-bed style, meaning the bed was at the top of a ladder with additional floor space below.
We also had a balcony overlooking the swimming pool which let in a lot of natural light and made the room feel bigger and more spacious.
The room even came with bookshelves of books, which was a highlight for me.
There seemed to be a lot going on in the hostel each night, with group outings to Batu Caves or pub crawls.
If you’re a solo traveller, it seemed to be a very good place to stay.

Overall Review of Mingle High Street Hostel
Overall, I would definitely stay at Mingle Hostel in Kuala Lumpur again.
The bed was a little uncomfortable due to being on the floor of the loft-style room.
The only other fault would be that the room is very small and doesn’t have anywhere to sit down other than one chair.
Otherwise, for us only needing somewhere to sleep as we were out all day every day, it was perfect.
The swimming pool looked great, there was lots going on and it was very safe/secure.
