Welcome to the Checking In series on Orlagh Claire where I review hotel, hostel and AirBnB stays around the world. As you most likely know, I have been travelling quite a lot recently which you can see over on my YouTube channel.
Next in this series of reviews is Canterbury Cottage where we stayed during our time in Bar Harbor, Maine, USA whilst on our East Coast road trip.

If you’d like to see a video tour of the guest house, you can see this in my Maine vlog over on my YouTube channel which I’ll also add in below.
Location
The location of this little cottage was perfect. It was just off the main road into Bar Harbor itself, and only a ten minute walk to the shops and bustling harbor.
We walked into Bar Harbor in the evenings and were able to drive to Acadia National Park which was around 30 minutes away by car.
The guest house also came with parking outside, but only around 3-4 spaces for all guests.

The Cost
For one night, it was a little on the more expensive side, but it was worth it for the close proximity to Bar Harbor and we were there during peak season (end of July/start of August).
A double room with an ensuite bathroom cost us £256 for one night, or £128 per person as there were two of us sharing the room.
The Guest House
We had no issues with the guest house whatsoever, and it even came with two resident dogs that spent a lot of time in the living area.
The room was around the size of an average bedroom, with a small ensuite bathroom equipped with a walk-in shower.
There was also a kitchen and dining area that was available for use during your stay, but we ate out during our time here so didn’t make use of this.

Our Stay
I loved staying here as it was my first time staying in a bed and breakfast, and it felt like I was on the set of Gilmore Girls, if it had been set in a seaside town rather than a town square.
I couldn’t fault it at all, and we were even able to check out nice and early as we were due to go whale watching the following morning at 7am. If you watch my YouTube vlog, you’ll know what happened.

Overall Review
Overall, I would definitely recommend staying here and revisit. I might not visit during the peak summer time to get a cheaper rate, but the street and town itself was incredibly safe and welcoming.
