This blog post is all about my review of Bimbadeen Estate in the Hunter Valley, NSW.

If you’re craving a slow, romantic escape surrounded by vineyards, wildlife, and uninterrupted views across the Hunter Valley, then Bimbadeen Estate might just be your dream stay.
We spent two blissful nights here during our first-ever visit to the Hunter Valley, and it genuinely set the bar very high for future winery getaways.
Located in Mount View, New South Wales, Bimbadeen Estate is made up of just six private studio villas, each thoughtfully designed to maximise the incredible scenery.
From sunrise views directly from bed to evenings spent barbecuing on the balcony while kangaroos hop past below, this was the kind of weekend that makes you slow down, disconnect, and truly relax.
This blog post is a full review of our stay at Bimbadeen Estate, including how to get there, why it’s perfect for couples, what to do in the Hunter Valley, and exactly how we spent our two-day weekend.

How to Get to Hunter Valley
One of the things we loved most about staying at Bimbadeen Estate is just how easy it was to reach from Sydney.
We hired a car from DiscoverCars.com at Sydney Airport and drove up to the Hunter Valley, which took just over two hours door to door.
The drive itself is scenic and straightforward, making it ideal even for a short weekend getaway.
Having a car is essential when staying in the Hunter Valley, especially if you’re based somewhere peaceful like Mount View.
Many wineries, cafes, and attractions are spread out across the region, and driving gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace. We found hiring through DiscoverCars.com really simple and great value, especially for a short break like this.
Once you turn off into Mount View, the roads become quieter, greener, and more winding.
Arriving at Bimbadeen Estate to a driveway of olive trees already feels like stepping into another world, far removed from city life.

Why Bimbadeen Estate is Perfect for Couples
If you’re searching for a romantic getaway in New South Wales (especially with Valentine’s Day on the horizon), Bimbadeen Estate absolutely delivers.
Everything about the property feels designed for couples looking to slow down and reconnect.
Each of the six studio villas is completely private, with its own balcony overlooking rolling vineyards and countryside.
Inside, the villas are spacious and beautifully laid out, featuring a comfortable bed positioned perfectly to take in the sunrise, a full private bathroom, and one of the standout features: a bathtub with uninterrupted views across the Hunter Valley.
There’s something incredibly special about soaking in a hot bath while watching the sky change colour outside.
The villas also come with kitchen facilities and a Ninja barbecue, making it easy to enjoy cosy nights in.
We loved cooking together, opening a bottle of local wine, and watching the sunset without any distractions. There’s no pressure to rush out, book tastings, or stick to an itinerary.
Bimbadeen Estate is all about taking things slow.
Add in the wildlife roaming the property, including kangaroos in the mornings and evenings and even an alpaca spotted down by the driveway, and it feels incredibly peaceful and intimate.
It’s the kind of place where you naturally put your phone down and stay present.

Reasons to Visit Hunter Valley
Visiting the Hunter Valley for the first time was such a special experience, and it’s easy to see why it’s one of the most popular weekend destinations in New South Wales.
First and foremost, the Hunter Valley is Australia’s oldest wine region, known for its world-class Semillon, Shiraz, and boutique cellar doors.
Whether you’re a wine lover or just enjoy relaxed tastings paired with good food, there’s something here for everyone.
Beyond wine, the Hunter Valley offers stunning countryside, rolling hills, and a slower pace of life that feels like a proper reset.
It’s ideal for couples, girls’ weekends, and even solo travellers looking for a peaceful escape.
The region is also home to gardens, gourmet food shops, chocolate and cheese stores, and seasonal events throughout the year.
Staying somewhere like Bimbadeen Estate gives you the best of both worlds: total seclusion when you want it, and easy access to the heart of the Hunter Valley when you’re ready to explore.

Best Things to Do in Hunter Valley
There’s so much to do in the Hunter Valley, whether you want a full itinerary or a more relaxed approach like we took.
Wine tasting is, of course, one of the main reasons people visit. With everything from small boutique wineries to larger, well-known estates, you can tailor your tastings to suit your preferences.
Savannah Estate was a highlight for us, especially because of their unique pie and wine tasting experience.
The Hunter Valley Gardens are another must-visit. These beautifully landscaped gardens are perfect for a leisurely stroll and surprisingly fun to explore.
We loved browsing the British sweet shop and the year-round Christmas store, which felt nostalgic and a little unexpected.
Foodies will also be very happy here. From casual bakeries to refined restaurants, the Hunter Valley has a strong food scene.
Stops like Cafe Enzo for scones and The Hunter Valley Smelly Cheese Shop are well worth adding to your itinerary.
If you’re staying somewhere scenic like Bimbadeen Estate, though, don’t underestimate the joy of doing very little.
Sunrise watching, swimming, reading, and simply enjoying the view can easily fill your days.

How to Spend 2 Days at Bimbadeen Estate
Below is exactly how we spent our weekend at Bimbadeen Estate and in the Hunter Valley. It was a perfect, slow weekend and I’d highly recommend replicating it.
Friday Evening: Arrival and Sunset Views
We arrived at Bimbadeen Estate on Friday evening after our drive from Sydney. After checking in and settling into our villa, we wasted no time getting comfortable.
We had picked up supplies earlier and cooked dinner on the Ninja barbecue on our private balcony, pouring a couple of drinks and watching the sun dip behind the vineyards.
As the light faded, the views somehow became even more magical.
Since we don’t have a bathtub in our apartment in Sydney, I jumped at the chance to spend the evening with a long bath overlooking the valley.
It was the perfect way to unwind after the drive.

Saturday: Exploring Hunter Valley
Saturday started early, but for the best reason. The sunrise at Bimbadeen Estate is genuinely spectacular, and we watched it from the comfort of our bed before stepping out onto the balcony.
For breakfast, Steff drove out to grab pies from Piehole and coffee from The Fox Hat, which we enjoyed back at the villa with the view stretched out in front of us.
The rest of the morning was slow and relaxed, exactly how a weekend like this should be.
Later, we headed into the Hunter Valley, stopping first at Cafe Enzo for scones, then wandering around Hunter Valley Gardens, the British sweet shop, and the Christmas store.
We also popped into the Hunter Valley Smelly Cheese Shop before making our way to Savannah Estate.
Savannah Estate was one of the highlights of the weekend. Their pie and wine tasting included four savoury pies, one sweet pie, four wine tastings, a glass of bubbly, and a dessert wine.
The team here were great and really informative. The wine was refreshing and the pies were paired deliciously with each glass.
After a full afternoon, we returned to Bimbadeen Estate and cooled off with a swim in the shared outdoor pool.
Surrounded by trees and vineyards, it was the perfect way to end the day before heading back to the villa for another barbecue dinner, a game of Monopoly Deal, and kangaroo spotting as the sun set.

Sunday: One Last Sunrise
Sunday morning brought another sunrise we couldn’t miss, followed by a final dip in the pool before packing up.
Before heading back to Sydney, we stopped in Cessnock for breakfast at Arthur’s Pantry, which was a great final meal of the trip.
The drive back to Sydney felt relaxed and easy, and we left already talking about when we could return to Bimbadeen Estate.

Final Review of Bimbadeen Estate
Our stay at Bimbadeen Estate was everything we hoped for and more.
From the privacy of the villas to the breathtaking views, peaceful surroundings, and thoughtful amenities, it felt like a true escape from everyday life.
If you’re planning a romantic weekend in the Hunter Valley, celebrating a special occasion, or simply want a slow, nature-filled break close to Sydney, Bimbadeen Estate is an exceptional choice.
The combination of comfort, scenery, and tranquillity makes it somewhere you don’t just stay at, but truly experience.
This was our first visit to the Hunter Valley, and thanks to Bimbadeen Estate, it definitely won’t be our last.
