And we’re on the move again!
The next stop on our UK tour has taken us to Manchester, England.
We left Edinburgh this morning for a four hour drive to Manchester city centre, saying goodbye to cobbled streets, steep hills and the feeling of living inside a Harry Potter novel.
Naturally we made a stop at Bross Bagels for fuel for the drive. I think it’s safe to say our whole time in Edinburgh was fuelled by Bross Bagels, which made us feel like we were back in New York. I would highly recommend!
Why Manchester?
Manchester seemed like an obvious one for us to add to our list of touring the UK, since it’s one of the biggest cities.
It’s a stone’s throw away from Liverpool but I’ve only ever visited three or four times and that was solely to visit the Trafford Centre for a day of shopping, so I’ve never actually seen Manchester itself.
Often dubbed the London of the North, I wanted to try out the very built-up city and see how it compares to Liverpool given that it’s so close.
How long are we here?
We’re only here for a few weeks, similar to our time in Edinburgh, but hopefully that should be a good time to take in the city and all of its bars and restaurants.
We’ve only been here a day but we can already tell how different it is to Edinburgh and Liverpool. It’s much busier here and just a lot more happening with everyone out drinking, eating and trying to get back to some normalcy.
Edinburgh was incredibly quiet for what we expected. Even with outdoors and indoors opened in Edinburgh, there was never a feel of busy-ness, given that it’s the capital city of Scotland.
We’re staying around the Ancoats area of Manchester which seems very new and modern, with lots of high-rise buildings of flats and many bars and food outlets. I wouldn’t say it’s authentic Manchester, but there’s a nice canal beside where we live so at least we’ve got some water to walk alongside every day!
Where next?
Well, that would be telling, wouldn’t it?
I can say that it’s not in England, and it’s not in Scotland. But that’s all I’m giving away.
