I imagine many people are pessimistic. If you are not one of those people, then lucky you. I would say I’m a positive person 90% of the time, but I can also have my moments of doubt and negativity.
But for the most part, I believe in the best outcome. I believe everything happens for a reason and I believe everything is going to work out for me, because more often than not, it does.
And I fully put that down to because I believe that everything will work out. And that’s why it does. Positive mental attitude is a real thing.
The reason I’m writing this blog post is because I often have moments of self doubt and wonder, What if something doesn’t happen the way I want it to? What if I fail? What if it doesn’t work?
But flip that questions on its head: What if it does?
What if it all works out?
Instead of worrying about the negative outcome and what could go wrong, start to think of all the things that could go right.
Picture your perfect life. What does that look like? Where are you living? What job are you doing? What does your day to day look like? Ok, how do you make that happen?
Because you might not believe it, but you can make it reality. You might worry about it not working out or coming true, but think about the scenario where it does work out.
Think about everything going your way and start putting those positive thoughts into the world, start saying positive affirmations and switching the narrative in your head and see what happens.
Why do we expect the worst to happen?
With the news at the moment, it’s hard to be positive at all, never mind all of the time. Part of it is being realistic and knowing that the world isn’t sunshine and daisies 24/7.
So it’s easier to expect bad things to happen when we constantly see bad things happen around us, on our phones, on the news and from other people.
It’s hard to instantly switch that narrative and be a continuously positive person with positive thoughts all of the time.
But start small. When something negative pops into your head, or you think negatively about yourself or a situation, or you go to say something negative, stop yourself.
Change what you’re going to say and make it a positive statement instead. The more you train yourself to do this, the easier it will become and will start to become your normality.
How can I be more positive in a world of doom and gloom?
First thing’s first, look at your phone. What apps do you spend most of your time scrolling?
If it’s Instagram, look at the accounts you follow. Are they people or accounts that inspire joy? That make you feel good about yourself? Are there any accounts you follow that make you feel worse about yourself? Remove them. Do a good ol’ fashioned Spring Clean of the accounts you follow on Instagram.
If you receive Breaking News alerts to your phone, maybe its time to turn them off. Receiving negative news updates all day, every day can have a negative impact on your mental space. Reduce them or reduce them.
If there are social media apps that you spend a lot of time on like Instagram, Facebook or TikTok, look at following accounts that have a good influence on you. Follow accounts that inspire you, that put you in a good mood, that make you feel better about yourself.
Whether it’s a Good News account, a body positivity account, an account that solely posts cute cat or dog videos, follow those accounts that put a smile on your face.
It’s possible for good things to happen to you
You need to believe this in order for good things to happen to you. Believe that you’re worthy of positive outcomes, for good luck, for opportunities, for achievements and more. Believe that things are already happening for you and are making their way towards you.
I have an Affirmations board on Pinterest that I look at daily. Reading these mantras in your head every morning will set you up for an incredibly and positive day ahead.
Write your goals down as if they’ve already happened, this is another way to manifest and bring good things to you. Journaling, manifesting, affirming and attracting are all habits that I swear by and in my opinion, nothing bad can come from even experimenting with these if you haven’t done so before.
You can have everything you’ve ever wanted, so start believing it!
