A recent trend that I mentioned in my 15 Influencer Marketing Trends to Expect in 2021 was the no-filter influencer.
These influencers post photos, videos and an array of content showcasing their real-life selves, au naturale. No filters here sir.
From non-posed fitness photos to campaigning to government about the use of filters when promoting beauty products, these five females are powerhouses in the influencer world right now.
Let me introduce you to all five no-filter influencers and tell you why you should be following them.
1. Sasha Pallari @sashalouisepallari
Make-up artist Sasha Louise Pallari is the woman behind the #FilterDrop campaign, urging beauty brands and influencers to drop filters when promoting or trying to sell beauty products.
Sasha noticed that a lot of influencers (like the Kylie Jenners of the world) were adopting filters to their photos when promoting beauty and tanning products, giving consumers false expectations and creating false advertising.
An incredibly brave and courageous campaign to start, Sasha posts a lot of unfiltered content on her Instagram page and as a well-known makeup artist, only posts unfiltered images of her makeup looks.
A campaign that I can fully get behind!
2. Rozanna Purcell @rozannapurcell
At age 19, Rozanna Purcell was awarded Miss Universe, Ireland. Going on to achieve an incredible modelling career that spiralled into eating disorders and very low self-worth, Rozanna now has a following of 500,000 and inspires her followers to accept themselves for who they are and how they look.
Another no-filter campaigner, Rozanna keeps all of her images real and unfiltered, showing herself as she exactly is, from every angle.
The influencer has penned three cookbooks and runs her own hiking events community, inspiring many of her followers to explore the beautiful mountains of Ireland alongside her.
3. Alex Light @alexlight_ldn
I previously knew Alex as a well-known beauty blogger and beauty journalist for Hello! Magazine back when I worked at Coty.
Now though, with 339,000 Instagram followers and counting, Alex has a community of people who are anti-diet and learning to love themselves.
Alex posts regular images of herself and others to help stop negative body image and negative language around body shapes and sizes.
Recently gracing the cover of Cosmopolitan Magazine, Alex is constantly inspiring and helping other people to love their own skin and bodies.
4. Victoria Spence @victorianiamh
Another no-filter influencer that I love is Victoria Spence, a confidence coach and mentor.
Victoria posts completely un-filtered photos of herself on her feed. Exercise videos from all the unflattering angles and advises her followers on how to achieve self-acceptance and self-love.
Victoria posts great content and advice posts to those recovering or going through eating disorders. Sharing thoughts and experiences from her own time with restrictive eating.
5. Nelly London @_nelly_london
Known as ‘the girl with the hip dips’ (as she refers to herself). Nelly posts body-loving and body-positive posts on her Instagram feed. Showing that no matter what your body looks like, you can love it and accept it. And not be afraid to show it off.
Another no-filter influencer that has recently graced the cover of Cosmopolitan Magazine. Nelly shows off her hip dips and encourages her followers to understand that the things we are made to believe aren’t ‘normal’, are.
We don’t all look like Kate Moss or Kim Kardashian. Kim didn’t even look like Kim Kardashian five years ago. So learn to embrace how you look because that is your advantage in this world.
Why would we want to look like everyone else? Love the skin you’re in.
