This blog post is all about my ultimate guide to the best brunch and breakfast spots in Sydney that I’ve tried myself, broken down by areas and neighbourhoods.

If you’re new around here, then you probably don’t know that I am a brunch addict.
I tried my first slice of avocado toast in Liverpool in 2016 and never looked back. Eventually, I found myself moving to the true home of brunch and avocado on toast: Sydney, Australia.
I’ve called Sydney home for over one year now and have tried my fair share of brunch and breakfast spots all over the city.
In this list of the best brunch and breakfast spots in Sydney, you’ll only find spots that have been tried and tested by myself and that I wholeheartedly recommend.
You’ll see images of each place and what I ordered, so you know that I’ve actually been there and tried it.
As I continue on my hunt for the best brunches in Sydney, I’ll keep updating this list with new findings.
So without further ado, welcome to my ultimate guide of the best breakfasts in Sydney!
There are a lot of places on this list, broken down by area and I’ll expand with separate blog posts for each neighbourhood once I have tried some more!

The 32 Best Brunch and Breakfast Spots in Sydney by Area
For ease, I’ve split this list into different areas and suburbs. As you can see, my list is quite extensive with 32 breakfast spots in Sydney all tried and tested by myself.
In time, I’ll keep updating this large guide, but will also split off into individual blog posts to focus in on each neighbourhood and suburb a little deeper.
Sydney is a big city with pockets of neighbourhoods to explore with amazing places to eat.
So whether you find yourself in the Eastern Suburbs (Bondi, Coogee, Randwick etc.) or if you’re out West in Marrickville or Newtown, North Sydney, or even in the city centre CBD, you’ll find something on this list for your destination.
The Best Sydney Breakfast Spots in Bondi, Coogee, Randwick and Bronte
As I lived in Bondi Junction for 12 months when I first moved to Sydney, the Eastern Suburbs are probably my most explored area when it comes to breakfast and brunch spots.
I’ve since moved across the Sydney Harbour Bridge to North Sydney, so I’m sure my list of brunch spots there will start to expand very soon.
But for now, these are all the brunch and breakfast spots I’ve tried and recommend around the Eastern Suburbs.
1. Blackwood, Bondi (and Cronulla)
Address: 87-89 Glenayr Avenue, Bondi Beach NSW 2026
I have to start this blog post off with my all-time favourite breakfast spot in Sydney, and that is Blackwood in Bondi.
They also have one more location in Cronulla that I’ve also tried, a town about an hour away from Bondi Junction by direct train.
Blackwood in Bondi was actually one of the first brunch spots in Sydney that I tried when I first moved here and at the time, I didn’t rate it too highly.
But then I tried their Morning Glory bowl (pictured below), and since then, have never looked back.
If you’re planning to visit the Blackwood Bondi location, expect to wait a while for a table. On weekends, this could be up to an hour wait or longer.
But believe me, it’s worth the wait! I don’t give the title of ‘best brunch in Sydney’ out lightly, but Blackwood is the spot currently holding the top spot in my long list.

2. Glory Days, Bondi
Address: Bondi Pavilion, Bondi Beach NSW 2026
Coming in at a close second on my list of best breakfast spots in Sydney (Bondi in particular), is Glory Days.
Sitting directly on Bondi Beach within Bondi Pavilion, you have the option of sitting outside with water views of Bondi Beach, or inside if it’s too hot and you need some air conditioning.
I visited Glory Days on a hot summer morning and shared the Sunrise Friends Board with my boyfriend while both of us looked out at Bondi Beach.
I think you’d be hard pressed to find a better brunch spot in Sydney with a view as good as this, looking out onto the most iconic beach in the world.
Additionally, the breakfast is great. This board is exactly what I want for brunch with a little bit of everything, lots of protein and not too heavy for the hot weather.
After breakfast we even stayed at Glory Days to do some work from our laptops, and it also earned itself a spot on my list of the best coffee shops to work from in Sydney.

3. Pocket, Bondi
Address: 266 Campbell Parade, Bondi Beach NSW 2026
I’ve grabbed takeaway coffee from Pocket on a few occasions after finishing a morning walk along Bondi Beach, but I recently visited to try their breakfast menu.
Pocket in Bondi is pretty tiny with not many tables inside, and two or three outside on the front street.
I will say that the service wasn’t too great during my visit (even though it was such a small restaurant) but the food was tasty and well presented.
It’s definitely more of an aesthetics-led restaurant and I know it’s a popular spot in the evenings for cocktails and food.
Service and atmosphere-wise it wouldn’t be my favourite brunch spot in Bondi, but I would go back again for the breakfast menu and maybe try the steak and eggs next.

4. The Depot, Bondi
Address: 132A Warners Avenue, Bondi Beach NSW 2026
The Depot was actually my first ever Australian brunch (and first ever meal in Australia) that I had after touching down in Sydney for the first ever time.
We had just landed from Bali very early in the morning and were meeting a friend who lived in the Bondi area so he could show us around and catch up after so long. The Depot was the spot he took us to after living nearby for a few years.
It’s definitely one of the bigger breakfast restaurants in Bondi, so you won’t have to wait too long for a table, and they have a lot of additional seating outside which is perfect for the warmer weather.
The frittata is popular here but after a long flight and being a bit disorientated, I had the scrambled eggs and some toast. I’ve since been back to have brunch with another friend and haven’t had a bad experience yet.
Definitely a reliable breakfast spot in Bondi.

5. Up South, Bondi
Address: 249 Bondi Road, Bondi NSW 2026
I was very hungover on my visit to Up South on Bondi Road, but I had promised my boyfriend a breakfast date of shakshuka and Up South are well-known for theirs.
Plus, it was only a ten minute walk from our apartment and so I dragged myself there and didn’t expect to actually eat anything, but as soon as I walked inside and smelled the food from the kitchen, it was pretty hard to turn down.
I would say Steff (my boyfriend) is a bit of a shakshuka connoisseur at this point, because if it’s on the menu, you can bet he’s ordering it.
He claimed this to be the best shakshuka he’s had in Sydney, so that says a lot – believe me.
Up South are also well-known for their pastries and viral trends, so expect a bit of a line here especially on weekends as it’s no longer a local hidden gem.

6. Savta Cafe, Bondi Junction
Address: 12 Waverley Street, Bondi Junction NSW 2022
Savta Cafe was one of our local coffee shops when we lived in Bondi Junction. Directly at the back of Westfield Shopping Centre, it felt like a little hidden gem in such a busy area.
Before we moved out of Bondi Junction, we had to stop and have breakfast as we’d been stopping by so often for coffee and the food looked too good not to try.
The shakshuka was delicious, especially the full pita bread for dunking.
One thing I have to highlight here though is the service. It’s the reason we kept coming back time and time again. The manager always looked after us so well, sneaking us little treats here and there when we’d stop by.
Savta Cafe is a great spot in Bondi Junction, and their lunch menu is great value for money with portions on the larger side than other cafes in the area.

7. Lox in a Box, Coogee and Bondi
Address: 232 Coogee Bay Road, Coogee NSW 2034
A pretty famous bagel spot in Sydney, I’ve tried both Bondi and Coogee locations and heard that they recently opened up a third location in Paddington a few months ago.
Location-wise I definitely prefer the Coogee Lox in A Box address, and this is always our reward after completing the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk, as we always work up an appetite for it.
Having previously lived in New York, bagels were a staple of my weekly diet and it’s something I miss a lot about my time in NYC.
Especially since after trying bagels in Liverpool and London, it seems nowhere makes bagels quite like they do in New York. Apparently it’s something to do with the water.
Anyway, Lox in a Box is the closest thing to a New York bagel that I’ve come across, outside of New York. So you can see why we visit here quite regularly.
Our go-to order is always to split the turkey bagel (they’re stacked) and share some fries on the side.
If I order one of their bagels on my own, you can bet that I’m keeping half for later as they’re so big!

8. The Little Kitchen, Coogee
Address: 275 Arden Street, Coogee NSW 2034
Another one of my first ever brunch outings in Sydney, after completing my first Bondi to Coogee coastal walk, we came to The Little Kitchen, just past Coogee Beach.
It’s a little out of the way of the main Coogee strip area that’s filled with restaurants and bars, so can be quieter and feel more local.
I tried their granola bowl which was perfect for the hot weather.
If you’re looking for a quiet brunch spot in Coogee, I’d highly recommend it.

9. Morning Glory Cafe, Coogee
Address: 130 Beach Street, Coogee NSW 2034
Morning Glory Cafe is probably the only cafe on this list that’s felt as close to a proper ‘surf cafe.’
Even though a few of these Sydney brunch spots are near the beach, this is the only spot where there have been actual surfers coming in for coffee after just being in the water, or beach-goers in their bikinis and swim shorts stopping by for breakfast.
It reminded me of cafes we used to work from in islands off of Thailand like Koh Tao or in Canggu, Bali, and was what I actually thought most cafes near Australian beaches would be like.
Morning Glory also felt like more of a local find than some of the others on this list with customers known by name and chatting to other customers inside.
It’s a great spot if you’ve just finished the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk as it’s right next to Coogee Pavilion, at the end of the coastal walk path just before Coogee Beach.

10. The Coop, Bronte
Address: 465 Bronte Road, Bronte NSW 2024
The Coop in Bronte had actually come highly recommended to us as a great brunch spot to try, especially since it was so close to our apartment near Tamarama Beach.
It took us a while to actually venture to it, but I’m very glad we did.
It was a hot Sunday morning when we walked here from our apartment and we didn’t have to wait too long to grab a table outside in the sun with a view of Bronte beach.
I had the avocado toast with poached eggs and mushrooms and Steff tried the breakfast burrito. It’s the only breakfast spots we’ve tried by Bronte Beach and I’d definitely go back.

11. 22 Grams, Randwick
Address: 166-168 Belmore Road, Randwick NSW 2031
I feel like Randwick is a really great foodie suburb that I haven’t explored to its full potential.
Especially when I lived so close in Bondi Junction, I really should have taken advantage of the proximity and tried more restaurants in the area.
As one of my friends from my university days lives in Randwick, I travelled to her neighbourhood to try a popular brunch spot, 22 Grams.
This is definitely a cosy spot that I’d recommend visiting on a weekday instead of weekend as it can get very busy.
With it being right next to Prince of Wales Hospital, they’ve actually opened a separate unit a few doors down that only does takeaway coffees for all of the hospital workers and to make the line easier for people who want to dine with them.
The shakshuka was perfect for the colder weather and they really don’t hold back on the amount of bread, so would highly recommend it!

The Best Sydney Breakfast Spots in Sydney CBD, The Rocks and Barangaroo
The Sydney CBD isn’t usually my go-to when it comes to looking for breakfast spots in Sydney.
Honestly, I believe the best brunch spots in Sydney are actually in the outer suburbs and neighbourhoods and would recommend venturing away from the CBD for breakfast, especially if you’re exploring the city.
However, if you do find yourself in the city centre looking for breakfast, these are my top recommendations in Sydney CBD, The Rocks and Barangaroo.
12. Three Beans, Sydney CBD
Address: 20 York Street, Sydney NSW 2000
I found it so difficult to find a good breakfast spot in Sydney’s CBD, especially when looking around George Street or Martin Place (thank God for Park Street Diner).
I was looking for a mid-week breakfast spot when Three Beans on York Street drew me in on Google Maps of all places.
Meeting a friend for a catch up, Three Beans turned out to be a lovely spot, although quite dark inside, so if you’re looking for somewhere a bit more intimate and cosy, this is a great spot.
The coffee was great, and the brunch was enjoyable so it’s now saved as one of my top spots to visit if I’m looking for brunch in Sydney CBD.

13. Park St. Diner, Sydney CBD
Address: 252 Pitt Street, Sydney NSW 2000
Newly opened in February 2026, Park St. Diner is part of The Grounds group of restaurants in Sydney and is themed as an American style diner serving up pancakes, a counter top and old-style booths that wouldn’t be out of place in the 1950s.
It’s definitely playing on the nostalgia theme, and with a short breakfast menu of only 10 options to choose from, I was very intrigued to try it.
I’ve dined in their sister restaurants The Grounds Coffee Factory in Eveleigh and The Grounds Alexandria before, which we’ll get to later in this guide, so I kind of knew what to expect.
Since I was here, I had to try the pancakes. Were they the best pancakes in Sydney? Not quite, but we will get to the wearer of that crown very soon, further into this list.
Park Street Diner is definitely a great spot if you’re in Sydney city centre and are looking for a good brunch spot, but it’s a little on the expensive side, especially as it’s diner-style.

14. Aslan Coffee, The Rocks
Address: 25 Nurses Walk, The Rocks NSW 2000
Tucked away down a back alley in The Rocks area of Sydney, you’ll find Aslan Coffee. A spot with outdoor courtyard seating that is great on a hot day.
Expect a bit of a queue on a weekend morning, but it’s a great city centre spot for breakfast in Sydney, if you’re visiting The Rocks weekend markets.
The avocado on toast was so huge, I could hardly finish it. I also added on some smoked salmon and was glad it came with some cherry tomatoes.
I’d definitely recommend Aslan Coffee as a quick breakfast spot in The Rocks and the coffee is one of the best in the Circular Quay/Rocks area.

15. Haven Coffee, Barangaroo
Address: 88 Barangaroo Avenue, Barangaroo NSW 2000
Another spot on my list of coffee shops to work from in Sydney, I finally tried Haven Coffee in Barangaroo for brunch when I recently stayed at Crown Sydney.
If you’re looking for a great breakfast spot in Barangaroo, I’d highly recommend Haven Coffee.
They have plenty of outdoor seating, great in the hot weather when the sun is beating down and a tasty Asian-inspired menu.
I had the Haven hash and salmon Benny when we dined there and Steff had the chilli scramble. Both were so tasty and the menu was quite experimental which I enjoyed.
It’s a very relaxing breakfast spot in Sydney, and one of the best breakfast spots in Barangaroo.

The Best Sydney Breakfast Spots in Paddington, Darlinghurst, Surry Hills & Potts Point
These are some of my favourite Sydney neighbourhoods when it comes to eating, drinkng and shopping.
They’re a little bit edgy with some great boutiques, small restaurants and design-led bars and hotels.
Some of my favourite breakfast spots in Sydney can be found in these suburbs, as well as the best pancakes in all of Sydney!
16. Barbetta, Paddington
Address: 2 Elizabeth Street, Paddington NSW 2021
I actually stumbled on Barbetta by accident, I won’t lie. We were in the Paddington area having a bit of a mooch around and the restaurant looked cute from the outside, so inside we went.
More of an Italian restaurant than a brunch spot, I’d definitely come back here for an evening meal as it seems like a great date night spot for couples.
Additionally, they seemed to have a cooking class area in the restaurant that you could peek into and watch a group of friends learning how to make pasta from scratch.
So you may have some light entertainment while you enjoy your breakfast at Barbetta.

17. Sonder, Five Ways, Paddington
Address: 227 Glenmore Road, Paddington NSW 2021
There’s just something about the Five Ways in Paddington that I’m obsessed with. It’s the cutest corner in all of Sydney and I won’t hear otherwise.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s basically this very small roundabout where five roads meet – hence ‘the five ways’.
But on this corner with the small roundabout is almost a small village. There’s coffee shops, restaurants, coffee shops, designer boutiques and even a romance bookstore.
Sitting side by side are two cafes and you can bet I’ve tried both.
Sonder in Paddington was the first of the two that we tried on a lovely summer morning after walking here from Bondi Junction and if you can’t tell from the photo, I arrived with quite the appetite.
Steff’s shakshuka came with chorizo so he was very pleased, and my plate consisted of just about every breakfast item I love, so I was more than happy.
If you’re looking for a hearty breakfast in Sydney, I’d definitely recommend Sonder in Paddington.

18. Juniper, Five Ways, Paddington
Address: 225 Glenmore Road, Paddington NSW 2021
The second cafe we tried in the Five Ways for breakfast was Sonder’s next door neighbour, Juniper.
It was another gorgeous day, so we sat outside to enjoy the sunshine and watch the world go by in my favourite pocket of Sydney.
If I was to pick between the two cafes, I’d probably opt for Sonder over Juniper. I ordered the ‘gourmet scramble’ and expected some scrambled eggs. However, I received an omelette.
I never order omelettes when out for brunch, so I was quite disappointed when this was put down in front of me.
Steff’s shakshuka (are you starting to see a trend here?) was delicious though, so I’d probably order this if I came back again.

19. Theeca, Darlinghurst
Address: 1 Burton Street, Darlinghurst NSW 2010
When I originally dined at Theeca in Darlinghurst for the first time, I said that the pancake was overpriced.
It’s what they’re most known for, and the pancake is a viral hit on TikTok. It’s a pretty steep $30 for one pancake, which at the time seemed pretty outrageous to me.
However, have I been able to stop thinking about this pancake ever since? No.
I completely take back what I initially said as without a doubt, Theeca in Darlinghurst are serving the best pancakes in Sydney and I’d pay $30 over and over again for this one pancake.
I posted a video about it on TikTok if you want to see the full experience, but even from the photo below, I hope you can see just how cake-like and delicious their pancake dish is.
Even writing this is making me want to go back for a fourth time, it’s really that good!

20. LOAM (Ace Hotel), Surry Hills
Address: 53 Wentworth Avenue, Sydney NSW 2000
I can’t guarantee that you’ll see Chris Hemsworth when you’re having breakfast at LOAM in the Ace Hotel, but it happened to me, so it could also happen to you!
Ace Hotel is known as a trendy boutique hotel in Brooklyn, so when I discovered they had a location in Sydney, I had to go check it out and try their breakfast.
It was New Year’s Day morning and we had just spent our first New Year’s Eve in Sydney at the Opera House Bar watching the most iconic firework display in the world. If you want to see that, you can watch my Christmas and New Year’s Eve in Sydney YouTube vlog here.
Little did we know when we arrived at LOAM for breakfast that Chris Hemsworth and his entire family (yes, Liam too) were staying at the hotel and would be joining us for breakfast.
If you’re looking for an intimate breakfast spot for couples in Sydney, I’d highly recommend LOAM.
The food was great and the whole experience felt more upscale and luxury than most of the other cafes on this list.
Plus, they also have a photobooth in the hotel lobby, so you can also grab a souvenir before you leave like we did!

21. Room Ten, Potts Point
Address: 10 Llankelly Place, Potts Point NSW 2011
I mentioned at the beginning of this brunch guide that Blackwood is my all-time favourite brunch spot in Sydney. Well, coming in at a very close second is Room Ten in Potts Point.
Honestly, if this spot was bigger I think it would probably be sitting in first place in my list.
Unfortunately I only visit Room 10 if I have a weekday morning free because the queue is so long on a weekend, and although I really do love it, I don’t love waiting in line.
With all of Room Ten’s seating outside, it’s not the best spot to visit in winter, but perfect for summer.
Every time we dine here we’re always blown away by how tasty the food is, but for how great the price is too.
We often share ‘The Deb’ which is basically avocado on toast (but delicious) and the tomatoes on toast (pan con tomato) which is also delicious.
I wish I lived closer to Potts Point as it’s been way too long since I’ve dined at Room 10.

22. Pina, Potts Point
Address: 29 Orwell Street, Potts Point NSW 2011
Sister restaurant to Room Ten in Potts Point and literally directly opposite down a small alley, you’ll find Pina.
Pina in Potts Point is quite well known as one of the best breakfast spots in Sydney and I have to agree.
The food is consistently great, the ingredients fresh, and you can really tell they care about the food they’re putting on your table.
Again, this was one of our first ever breakfasts that we had in Sydney and it’s always remained high on my list when recommending great brunch spots in Sydney.

The Best Sydney Breakfast Spots in North Sydney
We’re getting to the exciting part of this Sydney brunch guide, because now that I live in North Sydney, I’ll probably be trying a lot of places around the Northern Beaches and expanding this section the most.
I’m closest to the Kirribilli and McMahons Point areas, but I’m really looking forward to exploring more of Manly, Balmain, Mosman and Crows Nest when it comes to food.
These are the breakfast spots in North Sydney that I’ve tried so far and love!
23. Celsius Coffee & Dining, Kirribilli
Address: 1 Kirribilli Wharf, Kirribilli NSW 2061
Celsius Coffee & Dining in Kirribilli is pretty Instagram-famous. And if it hadn’t been for Instagram, we probably wouldn’t have known about this spot.
We planned a day in Kirribilli to visit the famous streets during Jacaranda season, when many pockets of Sydney come alive in the most gorgeous shades of purple.
Taking the ferry from Circular Quay landed us at Kirribilli Wharf, right to the door of Celsius Coffee & Dining.
This tiny cafe sits on top of the water – yes, literally on top – and gives incredible water views while you’re having breakfast.
If you get sea sick, then this might not be the spot for you, but for the views and the beautiful presentation of the food, it’s totally worth travelling to Kirribilli for.
Now that we live so close that we can walk to Celsius Coffee, we haven’t yet been back, but it’s definitely on our list of breakfast spots in Sydney to revisit!

24. The Flying Bear, Kirribilli
Address: 76 McDougall Street, Kirribilli NSW 2061
This is a very recent review as we just visited The Flying Bear Cafe in Kirribilli yesterday.
We’ve lived in the Milsons Point area for about three months now and had no idea that this gorgeous breakfast spot was a five minute walk from our apartment.
Due to its close proximity, I was secretly hoping for the breakfast to be as great as the location so that this could become a new local spot for us.
And thankfully, it actually exceeded my expectations.
Weirdly, I struggle to find really good avocado toast in Sydney of all places. Crazy, right?!
I could list you five brunch spots right now in New York City that do incredible avo toast, but Sydney? I’ve got a list of maybe two places.
One of those two places is now the Flying Bear Cafe in Kirribilli. Everything was perfect and I can’t wait to come back here when the weather starts to get warmer.
Definitely the best breakfast spot in Sydney with a water view.

25. BTB, Kirribilli
Address: 2 Ennis Road, Kirribilli NSW 2061
BTB (which I assume stands for Below the Bridge as it’s directly below Sydney Harbour Bridge) is a stone’s throw from our apartment in North Sydney, and due to it constantly being so busy, we knew it was a restaurant in Kirribilli that we had to try.
We had popped in to BTB in Kirribilli for lunch during our moving weekend, but were stopped in our tracks during NAIDOC Week a few weeks ago, when they had a special breakfast menu item running with 100% of the profits going to First Nations Response.
I mean, if you saw braised kangaroo tail on the breakfast menu, wouldn’t you be intrigued to try?!
We shared the braised kangaroo tail omelette and the kangaroo & beef sausage patty and were obsessed with both items. I personally think the omelette should be a permanent fixture on the breakfast menu.
Additionally, $1 from every kangaroo sausage & egg muffin goes to Gunawirra to support their community programs. So if you’re looking for a restaurant in Sydney that’s giving back to the local community and doing amazing things, look no further than BTB in Kirribilli.
We even had the Quandong jam dot as a little dessert, another NAIDOC Week special.
You can tell the ingredients are really high quality and the menu is curated with care and passion by the team here.
We’re not quite locals yet, but BTB is a breakfast spot in North Sydney that we’re going to have to go back to and try more from their menu.

26. Venn Cafe, North Sydney
Address: 283 Miller Street, North Sydney NSW 2060
Venn Cafe in North Sydney was our first local coffee shop when we moved to Australia. We were living in an AirBnB for our first month while we got set up and found ourselves in North Sydney, just beside the Oval.
At the end of our street was Venn Cafe, and we’d stop in here every single day for a takeaway coffee and within a week, they knew both of our names and orders without us having to ask.
Sydney cafes might lack WiFi, but they don’t lack personability and it’s made Sydney feel like home a lot more than London ever did.
Before our month in our AirBnB was up, we finally took a seat in Venn Cafe and tried their brunch menu.
It was just what you’d expect from a neighbourhood cafe and I can imagine if we stayed in this area of North Sydney longer, it would have been a regular breakfast spot for us.

27. Kafeine, Balmain
Address: 260 Darling Street, Balmain NSW 2041
After seeing some TikToks showing how great the neighbourhood of Balmain was, my boyfriend and I decided to spend a Saturday morning there to see what the fuss was about and if potentially, it would be somewhere we would consider moving to.
Unfortunately the day was pretty miserable weather-wise and I didn’t love the brunch that I had at Kafeine. I definitely had food envy at Steff’s dish though and wish I’d also ordered the shakshuka.
I did however have a nice time in Balmain, and would recommend visiting Roaring Stories Bookstore which is on my list of the best bookstores to visit in Sydney.
But I’ll be on the hunt for more brunch spots in Balmain next time I visit.

28. Fika, Manly
Address: 5B Market Lane, Manly NSW 2095
I’ve been to Manly so many times now that I’m not sure how I’ve only ever had brunch here once.
But then again, Manly is home to Momo Bar which does the best momos in all of Sydney, so I do try and time my visits for post-12pm, when it’s more acceptable to eat my favourite little dumplings.
My friend and I started our morning at Fika with some avocado toast and lovely coffee art before exploring the shops and Shelley Beach.
It was a lovely brunch spot, but I wouldn’t say it stood out in any way. I will need to try more brunch spots in Manly to fully review the brunch scene here.

The Best Sydney Breakfast Spots in Marrickville, Eveleigh and Alexandria
Marrickville is such a foodie heaven, but I haven’t even scratched the surface yet.
Mainly because it’s quite far away from me, but I need to make a point of exploring the restaurants here more because each meal I’ve had has been incredible.
These Sydney neighbourhoods might not be right next to each other, but they’re close enough for the purpose of this blog post.
These are the best breakfast spots in Sydney in the Marrickville, Eveleigh and Alexandria neighbourhoods.
29. Angus, Marrickville
Address: 69 Meeks Road, Marrickville NSW 2204
When I first visited Marrickville, I thought I was back in Williamsburg or Bushwick, Brooklyn. With a lot of industrial-style buildings and warehouses, everything felt very New York, and suddenly I felt at home.
Angus in Marrickville had come highly recommended, especially as we love a sandwich and their well-known for their reuben sandwich on the breakfast menu.
Since we were doing a little foodie tour of Marrickville, we shared one sandwich between us and the first bite brought us right back to Katz’s Deli in New York. It wasn’t quite as stacked, but it still hit the spot and is a great breakfast sandwich.
I loved the overall vibe of Angus and would definitely come back here again soon to try more of their breakfast menu.

30. Eat Ozzo, Marrickville
Address: 93 Chapel Street, Marrickville NSW 2204
Another spot for sandwiches rather than traditional brunch (we’ll get to those next), but I have to shout about Eat Ozzo as I don’t think I’ve had a sandwich quite like it.
We travelled to Marrickville one Saturday morning a few weeks ago and tried their limited special, the Birria Ozzo – like a birria taco but with a soft pizza dough-type bread as the taco shell – and one of their best-sellers, the American Meltdown Ozzo.
You can see the full experience of us trying both sandwiches in my TikTok video here.
When I tell you this dough was sensational, believe me. They only make it with three ingredients (flour, salt and water) and yet there must be something magic in their fermentation because oh my word I would live on these sandwiches if I lived in Marrickville.
On top of this, they have a weekly coffee subscription that’s pretty genius and would be a no-brainer if I did live in Marrickville.

31. The Grounds Coffee Factory, Eveleigh
Address: 2 Locomotive Street, Eveleigh NSW 2015
Another spot I’d seen all over Instagram, I loved the look of the building from social media and to top it off, the food looked pretty good too.
The Grounds Coffee Factory is located in the historic Locomotive Workshop in Eveleigh, a huge industrial building with extremely high ceilings and lots of seating.
Like The Grounds of Alexandria, just visiting The Grounds Coffee Factory was an experience in itself.
It was Christmastime, so there were a lot of Christmas decorations around, and some very cute squishy toys and merchandise available to purchase. I was tempted.
The pancakes are the main attraction here so I had to try them. It was nothing like the pancake at Theeca, instead more traditional as you could order a specific number of pancakes.
I ordered three and couldn’t make my way through all of them, they were so filling.
For the ambience, the decor and of course, the food, I’d definitely travel out to Eveleigh to visit The Grounds Coffee Factory again.
And I’ve heard a new bookstore has opened just upstairs, so even more of a reason to visit again.

32. The Grounds of Alexandria, Alexandria
Address: 2 Huntley Street, Alexandria NSW 2015
This one’s quite the Instagram hotspot due to their seasonal decorations that go pretty all-out, to put it mildly.
If you’ve got kids, you’ll want to visit The Grounds of Alexandria at Christmas as they always have dramatic themes and lots of photo opportunities.
We visited last Christmas and I know it’s a pretty busy time of year but the service was a hard miss when we dined here.
The food was good (we both had BLTs with a side of hash browns), but it might have been a rough day for the staff as I still remember the pretty bad experience we had from the host and even the waiting staff.
It’s not one I’d be rushing back to for dining, but it’s worth taking a walk through in their gardens for all of the dramatic decor.
