This blog post is all about whether I achieved my 2024 goals.
Welcome to my yearly tradition of reviewing the goals that I set out in January of this year, my 2024 goals.
I make these goals public for all to read to hold myself somewhat accountable, knowing that I’ll have to write this post at the end of the year.
If you’re intrigued you can read my goals that I made for 2024 here and I’ll list my previous goals lists from the last eight years. Wow, I’ve been doing this for a long time.

I guess a little context might be needed ahead of getting into these goals as I was in New York City when I wrote these, and this was also before I quit my job and moved out of London.
I knew this was happening but of course didn’t to jinx myself, so I held back a little on the goals. Don’t worry, I won’t be doing that this year!
This blog post is all about whether I achieved my 2024 goals.
Did I Achieve My 2024 Goals?
Below are the eight goals I set out for myself in January 2024. I’m going through each goal and reflecting on how I did over the last 12 months.
1. Travel to 5 New Places
Like I said, I was a little humble on the travel goals since I hadn’t yet quit my job and boarded the first plane of our travels.
You can say I achieved this goal, and then some. In total, I travelled to 15 countries with 13 of those being new.
My key travel goal for 2024 (besides backpacking Southeast Asia) was to visit Japan. We spent three weeks here during the summer and it was a highlight of the eight months we spent travelling across Asia.
2. Content Creation
My goal for 2024 was to put more effort into content creation and keep my blog running (which is a recurring goal every year, to keep this blog alive).
With more time on my hands in 2024 (being unemployed) I definitely put more effort into my socials, managing to publish minimum of 31 blog posts per month since the summer and growing my Instagram by around 18,000 followers.
However, I didn’t put as much effort into TikTok as I would have liked, and although I published 25 YouTube videos this year, I now have a huge backlog to get through in 2025.
I’ll have a separate blog post about my goals for 2025, but I want to put even more of an effort into my socials in 2025 as I’ve been able to work with brands this year for the first time and make a little bit of money from content creation.
3. Run 5km
I did it! This was a huge goal of mine to achieve before leaving London and I signed up for a 5km race in Hyde Park.
That run was the first time I ever ran 5km without stopping and I was so proud of myself. I received my first ever running medal and got a little each to keep running and start collecting medals from different races around the world.
4. Run 10km
After running 5km, the goal was then to keep going and increase to 10km. I had high hopes for myself and brought my running shoes travelling, hoping to run in every place we visited.
The 30-degree weather on the other hand, had alternative plans. It was way too hot to run, and the roads in Southeast Asia aren’t really made for running without getting ran over by a tuk tuk, motorbike or bus.
I’m hoping that I’ll get back into running once I get to Australia and into a routine, and will sign myself up for a race so that I have something to work towards.
5. Make Money from Social Media
I’m very glad to say that I achieved this goal and made a lot more than I ever imagined, just from having a small following across my socials.
When travelling across Asia, I was able to work with so many travel brands, hotels, tours, eSIMs and more and that’s actually why we were able to extend our travels beyond a few months.
And also the reason we haven’t yet made it to Australia. It’s also the reason I’m currently in New York City and staying here for three weeks, all thanks to making money from social media.
It’s been an added bonus this year, being able to get paid to travel, get paid to make content about my travels and then use that money to keep travelling. It’s a pretty great cycle to find myself in, but I’m not in the position yet to make it a full-time job. Maybe next year!
6. Learn A New Language
This is a goal I did not achieve in 2024. However, I am still going strong with my Italian on Duolingo with a streak of over two years now.
Saying that, I still can’t speak Italian and the 30 seconds I spend on the app each day to keep my streak alive probably won’t have me speaking fluently any time soon.
I would maybe like to take up Irish in 2025, but it might be more useful to take up French or Spanish instead, since words and structure can be similar to the Italian language.
7. Read 50 Books
I’m very glad to have kept up my reading in 2024 even with the travelling. With a new Kindle – yes, I’m a Kindle girl now – I’ve read a lot of good books and purchased far too many from the 99p Kindle deals on Amazon.
At the time of writing this blog post (with eight days to go until the new year), I’ve read 79 books, so I’m hoping to end the year on 80-82 books.
As always, you can keep up with my book reviews and what I’m reading on Goodreads here.
8. Take A Giant Leap
I was quite vague in my 2024 goals blog post about this, but I knew that the plan was to quit my job, leave London, go travelling and move to Australia.
I just hadn’t told my manager yet and obviously wasn’t going to put that out on the internet before doing so.
So, I can definitely say that I took a giant leap in 2024. I quit my job, moved out of London, hopped on a plane on the 18th of March and visited 14 countries in Asia over the last eight months.
It was a huge decision to make and an even bigger moment when I actually did it, but it was the best decision I ever made and I can’t wait to see what the year 2025 has in store!
