I’ve been writing my list of goals on this blog for everyone to see, since 2018. This year is no different and I’ll be sharing my 2024 goals today.
It’s funny to look back at the goals I had set for myself in 2018 for example, and compare them to the goals I’m setting this year. In 2018 I hadn’t lived in New York, was single and living in Liverpool, which is so different from what my life looks like today in 2024.
I’ve set a small number of goals for 2024 (not resolutions) and have a few more written down that I’m keeping private and working on privately, but I’m hoping to be able to share these in the next few months.
If you would like to catch up on previous years’ goals lists, click on each one below:
1. Travel to 5 new places
2023 and 2022 were great travel years. I definitely made up for the time during lockdown when we couldn’t go anywhere and branched out to new continents, countries, cities and states.
In 2024, I want to keep that momentum going and visit five new places. Whether that’s a mix of five new countries, some new cities or even new states.
I have Japan on my bucket list for 2024 and I’m really hoping I get to visit and try alllll the Japanese food, the ramen, the sushi, the gyoza – all of it!
2. Content creation
I want to put more effort into content creation in 2024. For the past few months, I’ve been uploading 20 blog posts per month and I want to keep this momentum going for the next 12 months.
I also want to put bigger effort into YouTube and TikTok in 2024 and I imagine my content is definitely going to be a lot more consistent after a few months into the New Year, so watch this space!
You’re going to be very sick of me on all of the social apps by the time June rolls around.
3. Run 5km
I took a notion in 2023 to start the Couch to 5K app. I’ve never been able to run more than 1km my entire life, but for some reason I was inspired to start running.
I’ve been fitting the runs in here and there, but doing it very slowly due to the dark nights and dark mornings. But I did something a little crazy over Christmas and signed myself up to run a 5km race in Hyde Park.
Now that I have something to train towards, I’m really hoping I achieve it and finish my first ever 5km race.
4. Run 10km
Since I should (hopefully) have a 5km achieved at the start of 2024, why stop there? Once I get used to running for 30 minutes or so, I want to keep building on this and be able to run 10km without stopping by the end of the year.
I’m not conscious about my time or how fast I can run the distance in, I just want to be able to do it and be able to finish it. Plus, running is something fun that I can do on my trips that I take in 2024, so you’ll catch me running around New York and Nashville in January!
Here’s hoping I have a 5km medal and a 10km medal by the time it comes to write my 2025 goals.
5. Make money from social media
In 2023, I was able to monetise my YouTube page. I’ve had a steady income of around £50 per month from ad revenue here, and been making around £100 per month from my blog too.
With the increase in effort I’ll be putting into my social media in 2024, and the increase in quantity of content, I’m hoping I can build things up even more to be able to make a little extra on the side to further fund my trips.
Being a full time content creator would be a dream job, so I’m going to try what I can to make that dream a reality in the future.
6. Learn a new language
You might now that I’ve been learning Italian on Duolingo for over a year now. I’m really enjoying it and picking it up quite well.
I also recently started to delve into French, although I’m finding it a little harder. In 2024, I want to keep up both languages but also take on another. I just haven’t decided which one to start.
7. Read 50 books
If you read my 2023 goals before coming here, then you’ll know that this is the same as my goal was for 2023.
In 2023, I exceeded my goal and read 73 books in total. However, because I want to focus more on content creation and other things, I don’t imagine I’ll have the time to read just as many books as I did in 2023.
I’m aiming for 50 books again, but I think even that might be a bit of a stretch. I was given a Kindle for Christmas, so I’m intrigued to see if that affects the number of books that I read at all.
8. Take a giant leap
If you received my monthly newsletter at the start of this week, you may have seen that I spoke about 2024 having the potential to be my best year yet and that I made a very big life decision in 2023.
I know I’m being very vague, but I don’t want to jinx things and say something that doesn’t actually end up happening.
What I will say, is that 2024 has the potential to be a very important chapter in our book of life and one that’s going to throw many new challenges, many new people and faces, and countless new experiences.
I’m so, so ready to take this giant leap and I couldn’t be more excited about it. I hate to say it, but watch this space for what’s to come early in 2024.
And there you have it, my eight goals for 2024. Nothing extreme to report, but many exciting things to come in 2024 that I’m not able to get into just yet. Like I’ve said above – watch this space for what’s to come in 2024!

Hi Orlagh, I recently found you on YouTube and migrated to your blog and I have to say I’m loving the content. I am 26 also and I find your blog so relatable and your goals so inspiring. One question is how do you manage to read so many books plus have time for everything else? I managed 37 books this year which was an achievement for me but I struggled near the end in December!
One goal of mine in 2024 is to start wrjting a substack or blog as I love books and writing. Can I ask how you made this website like is it a specific website or something? I toyed with a blog a few years ago but I find the start up a bit intimidating and a minefield :/
P.s. I look forward to a new blog every time you post and appreciate the effort you put into your blog! I look forward to your big leap in early 2024..I’m sure if will be exciting 😀

Hi Caroline! Thank you soooo much for your kind comment!! 37 books is a huge achievement! You’ll be part of a very small percentage of people that have read that many in one year so definitely be proud of yourself. My commute to work can take an hour each way on the tube so that definitely helps with reading time, plus I wake up around 7am to read when I work from home. I always have a book with me at all times in case I’m on a train, in a waiting room or have any opportunity to read. Plus I find if you have a really good book to read, you won’t want to put it down.
Of course, starting a blog is probably the best decision I ever made, although I cringe at some of the things I wrote back in 2016. I got started using a free WordPress page and then once I knew I was sticking to blogging each month, made the decision to pay for the domain to have my own URL, but a free WordPress page is definitely where I’d start – otherwise I’ve heard great things about Square Space.
Thank you so much again for your lovely comment and for reading these blog posts, it means a lot! And if you ever do start your own blog, let me know as I’d love to read it and hear your book recommendations x
