A five year plan? U crazy?? 🤯 I made a five ye A five year plan? U crazy?? 🤯

I made a five year plan in my final year of uni and looking back, probably wasn’t a great idea. However, I have ticked a few of those things off and didn’t take into consideration that one of those years would be spent in a global pandemic.

Even though it’s a crazy thought to have a five year plan, I’ve updated the original and created a new one - it’s over on the blog now 🙋🏻‍♀️

When influencer marketing first became a real stra When influencer marketing first became a real strategy in marketing plans, brands wanted to work with the biggest influencers on social media.

Then brands started to realize the value of micro influencers (those with 10,000+ followers).

Now? The new trend is working with nano influencers - those with 1,000-10,000 followers or often even less. So what are the benefits of working with nano influencers in comparison to macro influencers (those with 100,000+ followers)? ⬇️

1. They have a close relationship with their followers 🙋🏻‍♀️
2. Often a higher rate of engagement 📈
3. Trusted by their audience (the influencer next door) 🥰
4. Very niche area of influence 🗣
5. Less costly than the Kim K’s 💸

Sometimes I used to wonder whether experience was Sometimes I used to wonder whether experience was more valuable than my degree, but that’s something to discuss a little later.

While at university, make the most of your days off, your mid-terms and summer holidays to carry out work experience and internships. And I know, since most people are working from home right now that it’s very hard to get practical experience.

However there are other ways to keep adding to your CV in lockdown ⬇️

1. Intern - the most practical way of getting experience, ask if you can shadow someone virtually for a day 👩🏻‍💼

2. Write - start a blog 🙋🏻‍♀️ journal, write for other publications, make an insta or just write something down every day about what you want to do in your career ✍🏼

3. Volunteer - ask some local charities or businesses if you can manage their social media. Offer your knowledge for free to gain some experience and this may turn out to be paying work further down the line 📈

4. Build a social media account - show employers you know what you’re talking about because you’ve got something to show them. Start a TikTok account, a niche insta or even a YouTube channel documenting your vegetable garden 🤳🏼

5. Online courses - get certified in Google Analytics, Hubspot, SEO, Facebook Ads etc. all for free. These are skills every employer will value 👩🏻‍💻

6. Read - from the bookworm herself. I don’t just mean books here. Keep up with all the latest blogs, news articles and tweets of those in the business. Keep up with current trends, new social media features and apps making big waves. Make sure you’re up to speed on everything happening in the industry 📚
