My boyfriend and I made the decision to go travelling for six months and see the world.
Within that decision, we chose to quit our jobs, to move out of our flat in London, and also move to the other side of the world, to Australia.
The one decision to move to the other side of the world caused a ripple effect on all areas of our lives, affecting more than just us.
But will it be a good decision, or will we regret it?
Altering the course of your life
It blows my mind how one decision can change everything. I could still be sat in my flat in London right now, comfortable and going to work as normal, spending my weekends seeing friends.
But instead, I’m in Bucharest Airport about to board a flight to Dubai, at the start of our travel adventures.
That one decision to travel has changed everything. We now don’t have anywhere to call ‘home’ except our parents houses, we don’t have any income or a full-time job and we have no idea where we’re going to be two weeks’ from now.
We’re now living a life of spontaneity, no structure and no obligations.
The taste of freedom
It’s the strangest feeling to wake up in a new country and have no stresses about work that you’ll be going back to, or about waking up to an alarm because you have to be somewhere.
The only things I have to do while I’m travelling are see the world, read my kindle and because I want to, document it all online at the same time.
I could easily get used to all of this travelling around, seeing the world and relaxing at the same time.
The digital nomad life
Another decision that changed the course of my life was posting my life on the internet. I don’t need to go into detail because you know my blogging story already, but more recently, my Instagram has taken off a little.
I haven’t hit the big time just yet, but I’ve somehow managed to acquire 10,000 followers on Instagram in a very short space of time, from posting a backlog of travel content.
The mental thing is, I haven’t even begun with the travel content yet now that we’re going backpacking for six months, so there is still so much yet to come.
But by choosing to do this, it might actually help us on our way around the world, as I’ll be working with a company in Dubai to experience some things that we wouldn’t have otherwise been able to afford on a backpacking budget.
A full time content creator
I think I’ve spoken about this in the past that my dream would be to work as a full time content creator. To write blog posts and articles, create video and photo content and work from anywhere in the world during the hours that I choose.
This period of full-time travel may be the only time that I ever have to experience this, and to try it out to see how I like it.
Who knows, the decision to quit my job and go travelling for six months might just be the decision that alters the course of my life to make this happen.
Your life can change so drastically because of one decision.
