When it comes to growing a business you need to have a marketing strategy in place. Large companies spend thousands and thousands on marketing and with good reason.
Marketing works.
That is not to say you have to allocate huge spending percentages to your marketing budget, but there are certainly some things you can do to improve your marketing strategy and in turn promote the growth of your business.
Use multiple platforms
You may have tried and tested success with a particular platform but have you considered diversifying your marketing and utilising different platforms?
By doing so you could tap into a whole new customer base you didn’t know existed, or rather that didn’t know you existed. Research all of the available avenues, experiment with new channels and track the key performance indicators so you know what is working and what isn’t.
Don’t pigeonhole all of your marketing efforts into one area.
Know your competition
Almost all businesses will perform some kind of competitive analysis, but have you ever extended this to your marketing efforts?
Look at the marketing efforts your competitors are doing. Is it working for them and how can you better what they are already doing?
Your marketing research doesn’t even have to be on your competitors. Spend some time researching businesses that have great marketing techniques and look to see how you can make what they are doing work for you.
Another great tip is to carry out some market research on your customers to find out the difference between you and a competitor and maximise any of the positive results in your marketing strategy.
Add value
When it comes to marketing content one thing that is universally accepted is the need to add value to your customer’s life and not just push sales.
You want to be creating marketing content that your audience will glean something from, something that will improve their day perhaps. It could be an offer or giveaway relevant to your business, or inspirational or informative content.
By doing this you will be helping to build a relationship with your audience and help build trust in your business.
Build relationships
Another important marketing technique is to build and nurture long-term relationships with customers or clients.
One of the great benefits of social media is that it has allowed marketers direct access to their target audience and made relationship building easier than ever.
Social media marketing and influencer marketing is a great way to build a relationship with your client base as it allows you to make your marketing efforts personal to your customer, engaging and instant.
You can reach your customers on social media in ways that you haven’t been able to before. You can harvest relationships by engaging with them on social media and providing content that isn’t just about pushy sales but rather value-adding, as mentioned.
All of this contributes to building a fruitful trusted relationship between you and your customer, that can bring repeat business, referrals and even positive online feedback for everyone to see.
