And we’re on the move again!
This time we’ve moved to Wales, to the lovely city of Cardiff. We left Manchester on Thursday evening, arriving late on Thursday night after a four-hour drive.
I was quite sad to leave Manchester as it’s somewhere I’ve come to really like and I especially loved the area of Ancoats that we were living in.
I won’t however, miss the geese that were our alarm clocks at 6am every morning, or the building work that was happening opposite us, but I will definitely miss the city.
We’ve been in Cardiff a few days now and as it’s my first time in Cardiff, I’ve been enjoying it so far (and have already ate too many Welsh cakes).
Why Cardiff?
I may not have mentioned it on here before, but my boyfriend is Welsh. And when I say Welsh, he’s very Welsh. If you’re thinking rugby, Welsh bucket hats and a thick Welsh accent then you’ve got it to a T.
To give him some time back in his home country, we’ve come to Wales for a month with three-four weeks in Cardiff and two weeks at his family home in a very small village.
After moving around from Liverpool to Edinburgh, to Manchester and now Cardiff, I feel like Cardiff is going to be a much calmer experience than the rest. And I’m very glad for it.
If you’ve noticed, I’ve been quite on the blog front, haven’t made much time to read and haven’t been posting much on Instagram. I’m hoping that Cardiff will prove a little retreat for me, with more time to focus on reading and more time to get back to blogging.
I’m excited to see what Cardiff has to offer, but so far it’s reminding me a lot of Belfast, with girls all dressed up from early morning for a full day out and everyone eating and drinking on the weekends and the city centre a very friendly place.
What will we get up to?
Well, following on from my previous point, hopefully not too much.
We’ll be exploring a lot of the pubs and bars since the Euro’s is on and the Lions rugby tournament is starting so there will be a lot of pints and pub food to be had.
We’ve already done a lot of celebrity spotting (mainly rugby players) and I hope to explore a lot of the brunch and coffee shops around the city since we’re staying right in the centre of the city.
We’ll be meeting up with some friends, going out for food and mainly relaxing. We even have a little outdoor space in our apartment here which I hope to make the most of (if the weather is on my side) and get back to having a routine of sorts.
We’ve also managed to score some tickets to an international rugby game in a few weeks, which will be a first for me and also be so great to get back to a stadium in over a year, so I’m very excited for that. I just have to decided whether I should show up in my Ireland top.
Where to next?
As I said, we’re only here for three-four weeks and then moving on to my boyfriend’s family home for a couple of weeks.
Going into August, we do have somewhere else booked for the whole month with the potential of staying on there for the foreseeable future which is very exciting and going to be nice for us to stay put for a little while, waiting for the world to return to normal still.
It will be good to settle again for a while, but it most likely won’t be for long!
