This blog post is all about my review of Living Chilled Koh Tao.
Living Chilled Koh Tao: Location & First Impressions
Living Chilled Koh Tao is tucked away just a short and peaceful walk from the island’s main beach areas and the bustling town centre.
Unlike some accommodations that put you smack in the middle of noisy nightlife, Living Chilled Koh Tao is positioned perfectly for those who want to soak up island life without the party chaos right outside their door.
Arriving here, we were struck by the lush tropical gardens and a laid-back vibe that immediately helped us unwind after a long flight and ferry ride.
The property feels like a quiet sanctuary surrounded by palm trees and colourful flowers, with ocean views visible from the pool area and some rooms.
Its proximity is a big plus! Just a 5 to 10-minute stroll takes you to places like Sairee Beach, dive shops, restaurants, and markets.
This means you can enjoy easy access to the island’s main attractions but retreat to peaceful surroundings when you want to relax and recharge.
Our Room & Amenities at Living Chilled Koh Tao
We stayed in one of the private double rooms with air-conditioning, which was a must for us to escape the tropical heat, especially after sunny days out on the water or hiking.
The room was simple but very comfortable, with all the essentials we needed: a cozy double bed, a clean bathroom, and a small balcony overlooking the greenery.
One thing we really appreciated was how spotlessly clean the room was. The housekeeping team came every day, refreshed the linens, and tidied up, which made a huge difference for a longer stay. It felt like a little home away from home.
For digital nomads, Living Chilled Koh Tao also offers reliable Wi-Fi throughout the property. Fast enough for working on projects or catching up on emails, which meant we could balance work and leisure smoothly.
Staff & Service at Living Chilled Koh Tao
From check-in to check-out, the staff at Living Chilled made our stay special.
They greeted us with warm smiles and genuine friendliness, which instantly made us feel welcome.
Throughout the week, they were always happy to help with anything we needed. Whether arranging taxis, recommending local activities, or simply chatting about island life.
Their insider tips were invaluable. For example, they pointed us towards some hidden beaches and the best local eateries, which we never would have found on our own.
Their attentiveness didn’t feel intrusive, just thoughtful and genuine.
This level of service really added to the laid-back and relaxed atmosphere of Living Chilled Koh Tao, a place where you feel cared for but also free to do your own thing.
Why We Loved the Location of Living Chilled Koh Tao
One of the best things about Living Chilled Koh Tao is its location.
It offers a peaceful retreat from the more tourist-heavy parts of Koh Tao without feeling isolated. We loved waking up to the sounds of birds and a gentle ocean breeze, far from the buzz of nightlife and loud music.
At the same time, being just a short walk away from Sairee Beach and the island’s main street meant we could easily explore during the day or head out for dinner and drinks in the evening.
Whether you want to chill by the pool, swim at the beach, or join a scuba diving course, this location puts you right in the middle of it all, but with a sense of calm to come back to.

The Best Things to Do in Koh Tao
Living Chilled Koh Tao makes it easy to explore all the natural beauty and activities Koh Tao has to offer.
Here are some of the island’s best experiences we highly recommend:
Scuba Diving & Snorkelling
Koh Tao is one of the world’s top destinations for affordable, high-quality scuba diving courses.
Whether you’re a beginner or advanced diver, the crystal-clear waters are full of vibrant marine life, coral reefs, and wreck sites. For non-divers (like me), snorkelling at spots like Shark Bay and Ao Leuk is unforgettable.
John-Suwan Viewpoint
A moderately challenging hike, John-Suwan Viewpoint rewards you with breathtaking views of two bays and the island’s lush interior.
It’s a perfect morning or late afternoon excursion for photography lovers.
Freedom Beach
Less crowded and pristine, Freedom Beach offers calm waters for swimming and a peaceful atmosphere.
It’s a great spot to escape the busier beaches and relax surrounded by nature.
Sai Nuan Beach
A secluded little bay ideal for snorkelling and picnicking. You can get here via a short walk from the main roads or by boat tours.
Koh Nang Yuan
This small island just off Koh Tao is famous for its iconic sandbar linking three islands.
Take a day trip by boat to swim in crystal-clear waters, hike to the viewpoint, and enjoy snorkelling in calm lagoons.
Is Koh Tao Dangerous? What You Should Know
While Koh Tao has a reputation that might raise some eyebrows, it’s important to look at the facts and hear from travellers who have spent time here.
For the vast majority of visitors, Koh Tao is a safe, friendly island with a strong community of locals and expats who depend on tourism.
That said, there are a few practical safety tips to keep in mind:
- Be cautious with valuables: Petty theft can happen anywhere, so don’t leave your belongings unattended on the beach or in crowded places. Use hotel safes when possible.
- Scooter safety: Many travelers rent scooters to explore, but the island’s roads can be narrow, steep, and slippery when wet. Always wear a helmet and drive carefully.
- Water safety: Avoid swimming at night or alone, especially in rough weather or unfamiliar spots. Currents can be strong around some beaches.
- Choose reputable dive operators: Make sure your dive school follows safety standards and has certified instructors.
- Trust your instincts: Like any travel destination, if something feels off, remove yourself from the situation.
During our week, we felt completely safe walking around day or night and encountered nothing but friendly locals and fellow travellers.
Common sense and respect for the island go a long way.
