You only have to look at the numerous TV shows, movies and books about dating in New York City to know that this city hold something special romance-wise.
For me, New York is where my relationship started and I spent 10 months dating in the city and coming up with new and fun date ideas in New York to keep things exciting.
Many of the below are date ideas in New York for day and nights that I’ve had myself, but with some additional ideas I need to try out too.

Below is a list of non-typical and unique date ideas in New York which are great for any time of the year.
But especially with Valentine’s Day on the horizon!

Going to a sporting event in New York is one of the best date ideas in New York, especially with the level of entertainment that comes with each game.
Whether it’s a basketball game, baseball, American football or ice hockey, you’re sure to be entertained whilst also getting to know the other person during the down time between plays.

- American Football: New York Giants and New York Jets.
- Baseball: New York Yankees and New York Mets (both MLB), and for a fun night of baseball, check out Brooklyn Cyclones in Coney Island for their annual Seinfeld night.

If you’re planning a Broadway night, something classic like a maxi dress works perfectly. Stylish enough for dinner but still comfortable for the show.
This one is my particular favourite of the date ideas in New York, having seen so many Broadway shows during my time there.
I also got my partner into Broadway too by taking him to see The Book of Mormon and Wicked. He was quickly hooked!

It’s also budget-friendly, offering a cost-effective way to enjoy a wide variety of dumplings. Additionally, you can combine the foodie exploring with a leisurely walk through Chinatown’s bustling streets and markets.

We did this ourselves during Restaurant Week and were able to have a budget-friendly three course meal at the famous Butter restaurant in Midtown. It was also a fun date for me as it’s a famous Gossip Girl location too!

We recently enjoyed a Circle Line cruise, sailing along the Hudson River and right around to Brooklyn. We had the New York CITYPass which allowed us to do this cruise and four other New York activities!
