9 of the Best Christmas Markets in New York
Below is a list of my favourite Christmas markets in New York to visit during the holiday period.
To get a sense of what Christmas is like in New York, you should watch my recent YouTube vlog below when I was there most recently:
1. Union Square Holiday Market
This is one of my absolute favourite Christmas markets in New York!
The Union Square Holiday Market is iconic. You’ll find over 100 vendors selling everything from handcrafted jewellery to quirky art prints, all in this super festive, maze-like setup.
It’s the perfect spot to pick up unique gifts (or treat yourself—no judgment!).
One of the best things here? The food stalls! Grab some warm apple cider or a gourmet pretzel while you wander.
It’s always buzzing, and the cozy, communal vibe will get you in the holiday spirit immediately.
2. My Favourite of All the Christmas Markets in New York: Bryant Park Winter Village
Bryant Park’s Winter Village is like a little holiday oasis in the middle of the city.
Not only is the market itself amazing—with cute little kiosks selling hand-crafted goods, festive foods, and holiday décor—but there’s also an ice-skating rink right in the centre.
And guess what? It’s free if you bring your own skates!
After you’re done with shopping and skating, cozy up by one of the outdoor bars for a spiked hot chocolate (you deserve it).
It’s great for both solo adventures and group outings, especially because it feels like a full-on Christmas carnival.

3. Columbus Circle Holiday Market
Tucked away near Central Park, this market has a more intimate feel compared to some of the others.
The Columbus Circle Holiday Market is perfect for those who want to escape the city’s usual hustle and bustle but still want to feel that holiday charm. You’ll find beautiful handmade crafts, like one-of-a-kind candles, ceramics, and leather goods.
If you’re looking to find a gift that feels extra special and personal, this is where to go. Plus, you can grab a treat and head into Central Park for a quiet moment amid the holiday chaos!
4. Grand Central Holiday Fair
If you’re looking for a Christmas market that feels super New York, the Grand Central Holiday Fair is a must.
It’s indoors, so if you need a break from the cold (or snow!), this is the perfect market to explore.
The architecture of Grand Central itself is stunning, and it’s pretty special to be shopping for holiday gifts under the majestic ceiling. The vendors here are a bit more high-end, so it’s a great spot if you’re looking for luxurious gifts like cashmere scarves or artisanal chocolates.
Plus, it’s not as crowded as some of the outdoor markets, which makes it a more relaxed experience.

5. Holiday Shops at Oculus
The Oculus is already a jaw-dropping building with its futuristic architecture, but during Christmas time, it transforms into a holiday shopping hub!
The Holiday Shops here are smaller but still worth the visit, especially if you’re looking for gifts with a more modern, trendy vibe. I used to love walking through this little market on my way to and from work back when I lived in New York.
It’s also a great spot if you’re planning on doing some last-minute shopping because it’s right by the subway and all the major downtown attractions.
You can easily combine a visit here with some sightseeing in Lower Manhattan!
6. Holiday Market at the Brooklyn Museum
For a bit of a Brooklyn vibe, check out the holiday market at the Brooklyn Museum. This market showcases local artists and makers, with a focus on unique, handmade items that you probably won’t find anywhere else in the city.
You’ll see plenty of eclectic gifts, from handcrafted jewellery to quirky artwork, so it’s a great stop if you want to support local creators.
Bonus: you can explore the museum while you’re there and make a whole day of it!
The market is a bit more low-key compared to the Manhattan ones, which is perfect if you need a break from the crowds.

7. The Makers Show at City Point (Downtown Brooklyn)
Another Brooklyn gem! The Makers Show at City Point is all about discovering independent artists and designers.
This pop-up market leans into Brooklyn’s creative side, so expect funky, original items that have a trendy, artsy edge. Whether you’re looking for eco-friendly gifts, handcrafted soaps, or minimalist home décor, this is your spot.
Plus, it’s indoors, so you can escape the cold while you shop.
While you’re there, grab a bite at the Dekalb Market Hall—one of the best food courts in the city!
8. Astoria Holiday Market
Heading over to Queens, the Astoria Holiday Market has such a friendly, local feel.
Hosted in the Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden (a spot known for its laid-back atmosphere), this market features small businesses and artisans selling everything from vintage goods to handcrafted gifts.
You can browse, grab a bratwurst or some mulled wine, and enjoy the cozy vibes. It’s also a bit off the typical tourist path, so it has a more neighbourhood feel, perfect if you want to experience a different side of NYC during the holidays.
9. Harlem Night Market
For something a little different, make your way to the Harlem Night Market. Held at the historic La Marqueta, this market celebrates Harlem’s vibrant culture with a mix of food, music, and local vendors.
You can grab delicious bites like soul food or Caribbean specialties, and listen to live performances while shopping for unique, handcrafted gifts.
It’s a great place to experience the local flavour and energy of Harlem, especially if you’re looking for something that feels more like a community celebration than a typical market.
