I’ve written a blog post before about how YouTube is my favourite social media channel. Even though, I was very late to the game and only got into watching YouTubers a few years ago.
I realised I could watch people live my dream life in New York and enjoy it vicariously through them.
New York YouTubers are my favourite to watch as I love to see the restaurants they eat at, the coffee shops they like to go to, the bookstores they browse in or them taking a stroll through Central Park.
It takes me back to my life in New York and of course, I kick myself every day that I didn’t vlog my time there, but at least I get to watch them live it instead.
If you want to see my world travels on YouTube, you can follow my channel here!
1. Chelsea Callahan
I don’t know how she does it, but Chelsea makes the art of watching mundane life, enjoyable. When she lived in Harlem, Chelsea would go to work, come back to her studio apartment, cook dinner and chat to the camera.
Me, like 100,000 other people, were hooked. Now, Chelsea has moved to Queens (I think) to a bigger apartment, and has two kittens (they’re the cutest).
Chelsea shows the reality of being a 30-something woman in New York City just going about her daily life and I think that’s what people connect to. There’s no glitz and glamour influencer lifestyle with her, it’s everyday life and it’s relatable.
2. Alexis Eldridge
Quite similar to Chelsea, Alexis is an everyday vlogger. You’ll see her Trader Joes haul, what she makes for breakfast, what her daily routine looks like and follow her on a laundry day.
Alexis is an aspiring actor, singer and dancer, and I love hearing her updates on auditions and recitals. She also posts monthly ‘Plan With Me’ videos to set goals for the month ahead, which I find very enjoyable and motivating.
She also has a very cute cat called Bennett.
3. Yuyan
Yuyan is another everyday lifestyle YouTuber in New York. With her fiancé and dog, she shows what she gets up to around the city, where she likes to eat and her trips away from New York.
Her video could literally be one day in her life that shows her getting out of bed, having breakfast, getting ready for the day, going to pilates, grabbing a coffee, making dinner with her fiancé and going to bed. But I’d still watch it, because it would be edited so well and oddly, enjoyable to watch.
There’s something comforting about watching everyday life in New York edited in a romanticised way.
4. Erika Fox
Irish influencer, Erika Fox (Retro Flame) has had a YouTube channel for years. I feel like Erika is one of the original New York YouTubers that I followed and I loved watching her weekly vlogs around the city.
I will say that recently, Erika’s turned into Michael Buble and only seems to post on YouTube at Christmas time. However, when she does, it’s usually in the form of Vlogmas so we get a lot of content in the month to watch.
Every vlog is another excuse to ogle over her incredible New York apartment in the Upper East Side.
5. Taylor Bell
One of my favourite New York YouTubers, Taylor was more of a recent discovery for me. I wouldn’t say all of her vlogs are New York-specific, but she has a huge audience that love her videos.
I love that Taylor is super-transparent when it comes to money, income, her corporate life and her career path.
One thing about Taylor’s videos is that you can see the time and effort put into them. The editing, the sponsorship segments and scripts are so well thought out and executed.
6. Hannah Elise
Hannah has actually just relocated from New York to South Carolina, but was always one of my go-tos to watch New York content.
She’d take you on a day out around New York, show you what it’s like to live in the city and also be real about the struggles of being a young 20-something in the Big Apple.
You can see her New York bucket list series that she’s just started, where she’s ticking off a lot of things before her big move.
7. Tar Marz
Another creator on this list that actually no longer lives in New York, but I’ve been watching Tara Marz for so many years that she’ll always be a New York YouTuber to me.
Her Bushwick loft apartment is pretty iconic, and her weekly vlogs on Sundays were always fun to watch. I still need to get myself to La Cantine in Bushwick – a sandwich shop that she always highly recommends.
You can see a lot of Tara’s New York vlogs here, and more recently, her content is now set in Ireland as she has moved back to Cork.
8. Elena Taber
My list of New-York-YouTubers-that-no-longer-actually-live-in-New-York continues. Elena and Paige (next on this list) might be an exception to this as they do and also don’t.
I’ve been watching Elena’s New York vlogs for a few years, but she recently relocated to Paris. Saying that, she’s just hiked Mount Kilimanjaro, was in Amsterdam and Copenhagen for a while I’m sure, and then was just back in New York for a quick weekend.
So who knows where she’s based, but Elena is a travel influencer that was based in New York. Her vlogs are always incredible and insightful, as she visits locals of the places that she visits and also visits more obscure locations, and isn’t afraid to travel solo either.
9. Paige Secosky
At this point, I’m not sure if Paige lives in New York and I’m not sure if she knows either. I first started watching Paige when she did live in New York as her everyday life vlogs in the city were my favourite.
Her editing style is a joy to watch and she takes you on her daily life with friends and shows you what she gets up to as a young girl living in NYC.
The past year or so, her location and content has somewhat changed as she moved to the Amalfi Coast for a few months to learn to cook under Italian chefs (goals!!). After this, it seemed she was back in New York, but then found herself back in Italy again.
Most recently she traveled to Japan and was staying with a friend in Brooklyn, New York so I’m not too sure where she’s based full-time right now. All I can say is, if you’re in need for some wholesome New York City YouTubers – Paige is your gal.
