This blog post is all about my review of Z&Z Resort.

If you’re planning a trip to southern Thailand and looking for a relaxing, stylish, and budget-friendly hotel to base yourself in Phuket, I highly recommend Z&Z Resort Phuket.
I stayed here in April for three nights with my boyfriend, and it was one of the most peaceful and enjoyable parts of our Thailand trip so far.
With a beautiful pool, friendly staff, and a spacious room with a balcony overlooking the swimming pool, Z&Z Resort quickly became a favourite.
Whether you’re arriving from Phi Phi (like we were) or heading onward to explore places like Khao Sok National Park, this hotel is the perfect base to slow down, soak up the sunshine, and enjoy a few days of comfort and calm.
In this full review, I’ll walk you through what to expect from a stay at Z&Z Resort Phuket, who it’s best for, what’s nearby, and why it deserves a spot on your Phuket itinerary.
I’ve also linked my YouTube vlog of our time in Phuket below, which features a tour of the room, pool, and nearby places to eat.

This blog post is all about my Z&Z Resort review in Phuket, Thailand.
Where is Z&Z Resort in Phuket?
Z&Z Resort is located in the Chalong Bay area of Phuket, which is in the southeast part of the island.
This is a quieter part of Phuket, ideal if you’re not into the loud party scene of Patong or the crowds of Kata and Karon beaches. It’s tucked away just far enough to feel secluded, but still close to plenty of restaurants, cafés, and convenience stores.
We loved how easy it was to explore the island from this spot. Big Buddha and Wat Chalong Temple are both less than 15 minutes away, and there are some lovely local restaurants within walking distance.
If you’re arriving from Phi Phi Islands, there are several ferry options to Rassada Pier, which is about 25–30 minutes from Z&Z Resort by taxi.
We included this stop in our South Thailand itinerary, and it worked perfectly as a post-island recovery spot.
First Impressions of Z&Z Resort
After travelling from Phi Phi and catching a Grab to Z&Z Resort, we were greeted by the warm and welcoming reception team.
The check-in process was seamless. Within minutes, we were being shown to our large double room overlooking the pool, complete with a small balcony where we’d enjoy our morning coffees.
From the get-go, the resort felt calm, clean, and inviting. It’s clear that the staff take pride in the space.
The grounds are beautifully maintained, and the overall vibe is laid-back and boutique-style without the boutique price tag.
The Room: Pool Views, Comfort and Space
We stayed in a Double Room with Pool View, and it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay:
- A large, super-comfy double bed
- Balcony with pool and garden views
- Air-conditioning and ceiling fan
- Mini fridge and kettle
- Closet and desk space
- Spacious en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower
One of the best things about the room was how quiet and private it felt. Even though there were other guests, it never felt noisy or crowded.
We slept incredibly well and loved having a private balcony to relax on after a long day of exploring.
If you’re someone who appreciates clean, modern interiors, you’ll really enjoy the rooms here. Everything felt fresh, uncluttered, and thoughtfully designed.
The Pool: A Serene Highlight
The swimming pool at Z&Z Resort deserves a special mention, it’s definitely one of the resort’s biggest highlights.
It sits in the centre of the property, surrounded by palm trees, sun loungers, and the guest rooms facing inward.
We spent our afternoons here cooling off in the water, reading on the loungers, and soaking up the sun. It never felt overcrowded, and it’s such a peaceful setting that you could easily spend the day here without needing to leave the resort at all.
There are also pool towels provided and outdoor showers to rinse off, which are great little touches.
Dining at Z&Z Resort
While Z&Z Resort doesn’t have an on-site restaurant, we didn’t mind this at all.
There are plenty of great places to eat just a few minutes’ walk or Grab ride away. Some local spots we loved during our stay included:
- We Café – A lovely café with healthy options, smoothies, and brunch-style dishes.
- Sala Mexicali – Amazing Mexican food in Phuket! Their burritos were delicious.
- Rossovivo Ristorante Italiano – A great option if you’re craving pasta or pizza.
- Nommy Frozen Yogurt – A cute little dessert stop perfect for hot afternoons.
Of course, Phuket has hundreds of food options, from beachside seafood restaurants to street food markets.
Being based in Chalong made it easy to get around and try a little bit of everything without the intensity of busier towns like Patong.
Why Choose Z&Z Resort Phuket?
There are so many resorts and hotels to choose from in Phuket, but Z&Z Resort stands out for a few reasons:
1. It’s Peaceful and Relaxing
If you’re after a calm escape away from the typical tourist crowds, this is it. We loved coming back to this quiet, leafy oasis after a busy day.
2. Affordable but High Quality
The room quality, service, and amenities all exceed expectations for the price point. It’s an affordable stay that feels boutique.
3. Perfect for Couples
This resort is ideal for couples like us. The privacy, peaceful vibe, and stylish rooms all made it a perfect romantic base in Phuket.
4. Proximity to Top Attractions
Big Buddha, Chalong Pier, Wat Chalong, and Phuket Old Town are all within easy reach. It’s a great spot for sightseeing without being in the chaos.
Best Things to Do in Phuket Near Z&Z Resort
There’s so much to do around the Chalong area and beyond. Here are a few things we’d recommend:
- Big Buddha Phuket: One of the most iconic landmarks on the island. The viewpoint from the top is spectacular.
- Wat Chalong: A beautiful temple complex that’s one of the most important on the island.
- Chalong Bay Rum Distillery: Take a tour and enjoy a rum tasting at this stylish distillery nearby.
- Explore Phuket Old Town: Colourful buildings, cafes, and boutique shops await in this charming historic area.
- Island Hopping Tours: Book a day trip to nearby islands like Coral Island or even James Bond Island.
If you’re planning your wider trip, we went on to Khao Sok National Park after our stay here. I highly recommend combining the two if you’re doing a southern Thailand route!
How to Get to Z&Z Resort
Here’s a quick breakdown of transport options to get to Phuket, Thailand:
How to Get to Phuket from Phi Phi Islands: Ferry to Rassada Pier, then use InDrive or taxi to Z&Z Resort (around 25–30 minutes).
How to Get to Z&Z Resort from Phuket Airport: Roughly a 1-hour drive. Pre-book a transfer with InDrive or grab a metered taxi.
How to Get from Phuket to Khao Sok National Park: We booked a private transfer (via InDrive), which took around 3.5–4 hours.
For all of our travel in Thailand, we used 12Go Asia. I highly recommend booking with them for ferries, buses, boats and more!
For taxis and drivers, we also found the InDrive app to be the cheapest and used this as much as possible during our time in Thailand.
Who is Z&Z Resort Best For?
This resort is a great choice for:
- Couples looking for a quiet, affordable and stylish getaway.
- Digital nomads needing peace and good Wi-Fi.
- Travellers on a mid-range budget who want good design without the price tag.
- Anyone avoiding the party scene and wanting a more relaxed Phuket base.
If you’re travelling with family or looking for a resort with lots of in-house facilities (like a spa or restaurant), this might be a little too low-key.
But for an intimate, relaxing stay? It’s perfect.
Would I Stay at Z&Z Resort Phuket Again?
Absolutely, yes.
Our stay at Z&Z Resort Phuket was everything we hoped for: affordable, peaceful, well-located, and full of thoughtful little touches that made the experience smooth and comfortable.
From the beautiful pool to the kind staff and stylish rooms, it ticked every box for a relaxing few days in Phuket.
